There are two models that I think sleep the coolest. One is the Serta iComfort Directions Epic. Serta makes premium cooling gel. The other, OMI Lago Nouveau, is an organic mattress that just naturally feels cool. Both are excellent choices!

There are several on the market. iComfort was the first to market this style of mattress. Now there are quite a few. There are other ways to keep memory foam a bit cooler as well. Beds with quilted covers offer insulation from the foam and encourage some air circulation. Tech fabrics like CoolMax or Outlast are available, as well as fabrics like Tencel or bamboo.

When looking at these beds, pay attention to what is under the memory foam, it is that material that will provide support. As an example, Tempurpedic uses different foam as a support system. Some spring manufacturers use springs. And Air Tech companies like Comfortaire or Sleep Number use air chambers.

Always spend considerable time (more than 15 minutes) on beds you are considering. Make sure the store has a return or exchange policy, and understand it. Check out reviews for both the manufacturer and the retailer. Quiz the sales person to gauge their knowledge of the products, try to avoid stores that just want you to try beds indiscriminately until you find one you think you like.

If springs is the support, know the coil count. If foam, pay attention to the layers in the mattress. Spend time trying to find out about the brand you are seeing. Do NOT consider just one technology, try them all. And as Grandma used to say, "you get what you pay for."

Serta I Comfort is a good mattress and most people see them in stores and TV ads. Tempurpedic has many memory foam products but in my opinion has never answered the cool night sleeping. Both Tempurpedic and Serta control the pricing that retailers can charge for their products ... which will keep the retail price high. Therapedic ECOGEL ESSENCE mattress is of equal quality but is not price controlled so you can save a substantial amount of money. You can find mattresses for all different prices on the Web from $300.00 to $4,000.00. Try to stay away from the mattress that ship UPS ... they have the air sucked out for easy delivery. When they are delivered people love to watch them expand ... and give good reviews before they sleep on them for a few months. If you have not seen or tried this product at a store, it may be an option to check out the Chili Pad. If you get a non-Tempur-Pedic memory foam bed, a Chili Pad along with it will seriously bring down the temperature on any bed. I say non-Tempur because Tempur-Pedics need heat to be effective and work properly. But on Serta iComfort mattresses and other brands, the memory foam is more pressure sensitive and not activated by heat so a Chili Pad is a great way to regulate the temperature to exactly what you want.

The more plant-based components in a mattress encourage circulation and generate less heat.

Current marketing touts gel mattresses. Gel, in fact, actually heats up to your body temperature within about 2 hours. We have discontinued gel mattresses, with the exception of Magniflex Duogel...they have engineered a gel infused plant-based foam that is breathable....it took 10 years to perfect the science. The sample of the foam is actually something you can put to your face and breathe through. A true innovation.

In addition, a mattress that combines plant-based foams and a coil may provide additional circulation. Avoid totally synthetic products and mattresses with a lot of cheap poly-fill.

As Andrew mentioned above, the ChilliPad will truly cool down any sleep surface!

If you want to sleep cold then you should consider the a Sealy I Comfort may be the rout you want to take . the only thing you need to consider is if you are if you are allergic to latex because I Comfort has a lot of it, the mattress breaths better. Hope this helps. Sam V
