What it actually means in terms of softness will vary by manufacturer and even by product line, but it is typically meant to refer to something close to a medium level of softness, or just to the firmer side of medium. In the case of Beautyrest, it is probably more the latter (just to the firmer side of medium) since their Luxury Firm models also use their firmer coils. I hope that helps.
