Hi there -- Thanks for your question. There are multiple aspects of a mattress that can contribute to its motion isolation capabilities. In the case of this particular model, its motion isolation would start with the use of "pocketed coils" -- a type of spring unit whose coils move up and down independently of each other. This is further enhanced by the use of memory foam above the coils, which is a very shock-absorbing material.
