Yes. You can buy a mattress free of formaldehyde and fire-proofing chemicals. There are several manufacturers that comply. Naturepedic is one of them. Naturepedic uses no formaldehyde and no flame barriers or other fire-proofing chemicals. Naturepedic also uses no polyurethane foam or so-called "soybean/eco/bio/plant based" foam (all of these are polyurethane foam with some soybean or castor oil added). Naturepedic is certified organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) as well as the GREENGUARD "Select" standard for health care.

There are many fine organic mattress brands that use wool as flame retardant, or no flame retardant that requires a doctor's prescription. It's easy to find organic mattresses for $3000 and up. Some of the better values we've noticed: Suite Sleep Ace Hotel mattress, White Lotus beds, Naturepedic, Savvy Rest and Ergovea. |

Mountain Air Organic Beds has chemical free mattresses. We use wool as a natural fire barrier, no FR materials. Not all Dunlop latex is the same either and Talalay latex is not organic. Just recently we found out the all natural Talalay is only 80% pure. You really do get what you pay for. Just like food, you really need to know where it came from. It does make a difference in quality. We would be happy to send you samples of our certified 100% all natural latex rubber. |

Hi, Yes. 100% all-natural latex is totally chemical free....not to be mistaken with natural latex, which is, at least, 30% synthetic. The 8" model gives you a choice of comfort from a 2" Talalay Latex layer, which can be glued or not. When ordering on-line, leave a note that you want it un-glued. |

OMI mattresses are very expensive, and you can buy a synthetic-free mattress much cheaper than that. There are many companies that offer mattresses with organic wool as the fire barrier and pure latex and organic cotton.

OMI Mattresses are expensive but they are the purest available mattresses in the industry. When I buy a car for my family I want the safest, when I buy food I want the healthiest, when I choose housing I want the most secure when we sleep 8 hours a day in a mattress I only want the purest certified mattress available that is why we only sleep in an OMI Mattress. NO tricks no mirrors they are certified organic and have all of the compliance paperwork to prove it to me. OMI has set the standards. There is an update on this front. There is a new product on the market from Spaldin, called the Gemma Mattress. It is a 60% sunflower seed/soy oil (non-GMO) foam and it is the first urethane foam to earn Oeko Tex certification to the highest level. The best part? The queen size is only 999. |
