Thanks for your question. The Tempur-Flex mattress does not need to be flipped by the owner. To put it more accurately though, it can/should not be flipped, because the bottom side of this mattress is not a sleep surface. It should, however, be rotated periodically (head-foot, foot-head, etc.) to even out the wear a bit. I hope that helps.
