For most people, the new mattress smell goes away in a couple days. That said, some people are more sensitive then others and it may be one week. Rarely, but occasionally, it is one month. Our mattresses are made primarily out of latex, wool, and cotton and our components are Oeko-tex Class 100 certified which means they have been tested by a third party laboratory for strict limits on formaldehyde, antimony, arsenic, lead, cadmium, chlorinated phenols, phyhalates, toluene, styrene, butadiene, organic volatiles, vinylcychohexene, and asbestos.

Here are some tips to help make the new mattress smell/off-gassing go away faster:

1. “Unmake” your mattress in the morning and leave it uncovered during the day for a few days. Simply giving the mattress a chance to breathe with out a mattress protector on it, or sheets and blankets on it is one of the most important things you can do. If it is possible in your climate, air out the room at the same time by opening your windows.
2. Open the door to your bedroom to the rest of your house and if you have one--- turn on the ceiling fan or turn you furnace/air conditioning thermostat to the “on” position
3. You may want to put plates of charcoal on top of your mattress. Charcoal is very absorbing and can help absorb smells
4. You may want to put plates of sliced green apples on top of your mattress. Sliced green apples can help absorb smells

I sold a POSH & LAVISH to a couple, which she is very sensitive and she said she waited 12 hours to let it out gas and she was very satisfied with it after 12 hours.

I own Reveal, which is a 11" pure latex and it took me about 6 months not to notice latex smell so much. I have a sensitive nose and I can still smell it as of today, but off-gassing and smell are totally different thing. Knowing that it does not use harmful chemicals, it has not bothered me much. It takes time to have the smell go away, but I'd take this in a heart beat rather than those made with chemicals.
