Summary: Kingsdown Wesley Collection

The Kingsdown Wesley Collection is a new line of luxury mattress that is exclusive to Mattress Firm. These all use a blend of memory foam, latex, and some unique design features to create a line of mattresses that is amongst the highest quality on the market today. If you're looking for a true luxury mattress, then these are an excellent choice.

First, let’s discuss the features common across the Wesley Collection.

Shared Features in All Models

Memory Foam

All of the new Wesley mattresses use some amount of memory foam. 

First, there’s the memory foam in the quilt itself. This is somewhat uncommon in the mattress industry today, as it’s more difficult to make a quilt with memory foam. However, there are significant benefits to this, as memory foam is excellent at relieving pressure and tends to be quite durable. This also tends to create a softer feeling and more luxurious quilt than one that is made with simple poly foam.

Second, there’s memory foam under the quilt in the comfort layers of the mattress. This is Kingsdown’s Quad Action Memory Foam. This is a somewhat dense and slow-responding foam that has four different types of conductive materials added to the foam itself. These additives improve temperature regulation and can also improve durability.

Latex

All of the Kingsdown Wesley models also use latex in their comfort layers. If you’re unfamiliar, latex foam is widely considered to be amongst the most durable materials in mattresses today. It’s also highly breathable, extremely elastic, and can help balance the slow-response of memory foam.

At the core of every Wesley model is a unique pocket spring unit. This has an extremely high overall coil density at 1375 (note - coil density is a term used to describe what the coil count would be if the coils ran to the edge of the mattress and were not contained by a foam edge).

It also adds something that’s unique to Kingsdown - the Silent Partner. This is a thin strip of firm poly foam that effectively separates the coil units into two halves. This separation helps to dampen and prevent motion transfer from one side of the mattress to the other.

Scientific Testing

Finally, all of the Wesley models are scientifically tested as they leave the assembly line to ensure that these are all built to spec. This extra step helps prevent returns and ensures that you get a mattress that has the same feel as the one you saw in the showroom. We were extremely impressed by this.

The Kingsdown Wesley Models

There are five overall models in the Wesley Collection - three tight tops and two pillow tops. We’d generally recommend the tight tops to stomach, back, or combination sleepers, and the pillow tops to side sleepers, although your experience may vary with this. Their feel characteristics are as follows.

Note - the Lux Medium Pillow Top adds a layer of microcoils to the mix. This helps balance the feel of the mattress while creating even more of a sense of Cushioning Depth.

Who We Think These Are Best For

In our opinion, these are some of the highest quality luxury mattresses available today. We think the Firm and Medium options should fit a wide range of sleepers, and the Plush Pillow Top and Lux Medium Pillow Top could be excellent options for side sleepers or for anyone that wants a lot of Cushioning Depth.

We also think these might have some of the best edge support and motion isolation that we have seen in a long time. The combination of soft foams, a flexible quilt, and a the Silent Partner design means that very little motion is transferred across the mattress. It is hard to do better with this without looking at a split King arrangement (ie, two Twin XL’s). We also expect these to be highly durable given their use of latex and memory foam.

Warranty information for each mattress is included on the mattress "Law Label" at the store, and vary depending on the model. Be sure to talk to your salesperson about warranty terms, and particularly about the body impression warranty, which will tell you how much of a permanent depression may form to be covered under warranty. For these Kingsdown Wesley mattresses, it's 1.5".

To obtain warranty service, you will be responsible for shipping the mattress back to the company or retailer.
