Abnormally firm

Have had this mattress for 2 weeks and it feels abnormally firm. We have walked on it and even bought an additional gel mattress cover. It feels nothing like the model in the store. It's actually the hardest bed I've ever owned. While side-sleeping my thighs go numb. Could this be a mis-labeled bed? How long can I expect the "break-in" period to bed?
