Gel memory foam all moved to middle of mattress

I moved my mattress from one bedroom to another and there's one a huge mound in the middle of mattress that won't go down. I am assuming the memory foam/gel mounded together when moved. This mattress is 3 years old and was over 1500$. I've tried turning it on side and shaking it , laying something very heavy on it and nothing works! Frustrated.

Hi Darla -- I'm so sorry to hear this. Simply moving a mattress from one bedroom to another generally shouldn't be something that damages it. Have you tried contacting the retailer or the manufacturer about this? That would certainly be my first step.

If all other options have been exhausted, then before I trash the mattress, I would at least consider trying to carefully cut it open to straighten out the foam layers. The mattress will never look the same after that, but if you're careful (and perhaps a bit lucky), you can hopefully get it to at least feel the same.

I hope that's helpful.

Thank you! Yes I’m going to the retailer today to see what/if they will suggest something. My husband also says cut open the side of the pillow top and move it around. We stood it up tall and shook it around quit a bit. a lot of it moved to the bottom of the mattress so we put it back down. Put that part head first and going to have my grown son sleep on it a while if the retailer doesn’t help me out. It’s just frustrating because it was expensive and not very old and my thoughts are “why should I even have to deal with this!” Thanks for your response.
