Got mine last week with the custom base. This was the a upgrade of Costco's Nature's Caress Latex mattress with adjustable base. Initial observations: Odor was minimal, did not bother me at all. Mattress was the same firmness that I tried in the store no surprises there. As far as heat goes, it slept just a little warmer than the latex, not uncomfortable at all. Now the latex was slightly more comfortable when you first get into bed, BUT, i normally toss and turn all night (i'm a side sleeper) but with this new bed, I do very little turning, no shoulder pain and wake up ready to go instead of feeling like I was run over by a truck. Now all we have to hope for is this bed will last. While ultra expensive if I can get even FIVE years at this comfort level it will be money well spent!
