Summary: SweetNight CoolNest Line
The new CoolNest line from SweetNight is a value-oriented line of mattresses that has become incredibly popular on online platforms like Amazon and TikTok. But unlike many other affordable mattress lines, the CoolNest collection includes luxury features like high-density foams and cooling technologies like phase-change material.
First, let’s discuss the features common across the line.
Shared Features in All Models
Cooling Technologies
All of the models in the CoolNest line include multiple types of cooling technology.
In particular, these use both polyethylene fibers and phase-change materials. We think it’s worth pointing out that these are the exact same technologies seen on luxury mattresses from other brands. If you’re unfamiliar with how these work, polyethylene fibers are physically cool to the touch due to their high-density (think of how a marble surface feels cool on initial touch), and phase-change material works by absorbing heat with microscopic wax beads in the foam itself. Both types of cooling technology act as heat-sinks and absorb excess heat from a sleeper. In our testing we've found that these work very well at mitigating excess heat, although they are most noticeable for the thirty to forty minutes in bed.

Memory Foam
Additionally, all of the CoolNest mattresses have some amount of memory foam. This is a gel-infused memory foam that adds additional pressure relief (and additional cooling) to these models. As far as memory foams go, we found this to be rather quick-responding and without a lot of the "slow-sinking feeling" that is sometimes felt on memory foams. Additionally, this layer is perforated to allow for more airflow in the comfort layer of the mattress and to help you sleep cool overnight.

"PCMflux" Foam
Finally, all of the CoolNest mattresses have a HD poly foam called PCMflux foam. This is a true high-density foam (what we would call an UHD poly foam) with a rapid response and phase-change material within the foam itself. This effectively balances the memory foam and adds a layer of resilient softness to the comfort layers of the mattress. It's also quite open-celled, which allows for additional airflow.

CoolNest Foam
All of the All-Foam models have the same amount of comfort material with a stretch-knit cover. This is a combination of about an inch of PCMflux and about two inches of gel memory foam. Underneath the foam layer, the mattresses vary slightly in terms of their support layers. As you step up from the 12” model to the 14” and 16” models, these layers get a bit thicker to add extra height to the mattress. In practice, this changes the feel of the mattresses slightly. Adding more support material gives these a slightly softer feel with a greater sense of overall Cushioning Depth.
In practice, this means that the 14" and 16" models might work better for side sleepers.
| Model | Softness | Cushioning Depth | Memory Feel | Bounce |
| All-Foam 12" | Medium | Slightly Shallow | Medium-Low | Very Low |
| All-Foam 14" | Medium | Medium | Medium-Low | Very Low |
| All-Foam 16" | Medium | Slightly Deep | Medium-Low | Very Low |

CoolNest Hybrid
Much like with the Foam models, the CoolNest Hybrid models all have a similar composition of comfort materials over a pocket spring system.
Of note - these are slightly different than hybrids you might see from other brands. Many brands use the term “hybrid” to denote a combination of pocket springs and foam with a smooth, stretch-knit cover. In the case of the CoolNest models, these actually have a quilted cover with a pillow-top. This style of cover isn’t better or worse than a stretch-knit, but tends to give these mattresses a more “conventional” feel overall.
As with the All-Foam models, the CoolNest Hybrid models have similar comfort layers, but vary the structure and height of their support layers. As you step up from the 12” model, the 14” and 16” models add both taller coils and an additional zoned transition layer. This is a layer of poly foam with a firmer center designed to add additional support to what is typically the heaviest part of a person's body - their hips. This makes the 14" and 16" models slightly softer and more conforming at the shoulder, while still maintaining support in the middle of the mattress.
| Model | Softness | Cushioning Depth | Memory Feel | Bounce |
| Hybrid 12" | Medium-Firm | Slightly Shallow | Medium | Medium-High |
| Hybrid 14" | Medium-Firm | Medium | Medium | Medium-High |
| Hybrid 16" | Medium-Firm | Slightly Deep | Medium | Medium |

Who We Think These Are Best For
We were actually pretty impressed with the new SweetNight CoolNest models, and believe they offer good value for the money. These mattresses have some high-density foams, multiple types of cooling technologies, and a balanced Medium to Medium-Firm overall feel. We were also impressed with the style of construction. It’s rare to see a brand vary their support layers, and we think this works well here. It means that the top comfort layer (and the initial sense of comfort you get upon contacting the mattress) feels similar in all models, but the support characteristics and sense of overall conformance varies slightly from model to model. We think this makes it easy to find a good match with the CoolNest mattresses, and would generally recommend stomach and back sleepers stick to the 12” models, while combination and side-sleepers might do better on the 14” or 16” models.
