Summary: Sealy Posturepedic Elite Spring Collection
The Sealy Elite Spring Collection is a new line of mattresses from Sealy.
These are the counterparts to the Sealy Elite Hybrid collection and share some similarities, but with a few notable differences. Much like the Elite Hybrid collection, these are divided into their own rough subcategories: the Albany models and the Brenham models. Unlike the Hybrid models, the Spring models do not have a "High Point" subcategory. Additionally, these all have quilted covers and tend to have a slightly firmer and less enveloping feel when compared to their hybrid counterparts.
Shared Features in All Models
MaxSupport Unit w/ the PrecisionFit Coil
All of the Sealy Elite Quilted models use the same coil unit. This is the Sealy MaxSupport unit with PrecisionFit coils. This is a three-zone system with extra coils found in the center third of the mattress to reinforce what is typically the heaviest section of a person’s body - their hips. The individual coils are also shaped with a unique geometry that allows this to feel soft on initial contact and then firm with more pressure.
In practice, we found that this coil worked well to support our tester’s hips and keep his spine aligned in different sleeping positions.

Memory Foam
All of the Sealy Elite Quilted models also have some amount of memory foam, although the overall sense of memory feel is less pronounced on these models than on the Hybrid models. As you step up from the Albany to the Brenham models, the amount of Memory Foam (and overall comfort material) increases.
Much like the Hybrid models, the memory foam used in the Elite Quilted models feels denser and more substantial than the memory foam used in the Posturepedic and Posturepedic Pro models. They also have an additional layer of memory foam placed in the center-third of the mattress to add even more support.
Quilted Covers
All of the Sealy Quilted models have traditional quilted covers with some amount of cooling features. If you’re unfamiliar with the term “quilted cover,” this is a traditional style of mattress cover in which foam is stitched between two layers of fabric in a manner that’s similar to a quilted blanket. This creates a mattress surface that can be made soft or firm depending on the patter of the stitching and the foam that’s used.
In the case of the Elite models, these all use fabrics with high-density fibers with inherent “cool-to-the-touch” properties. Sealy calls this technology SealyChill. All of these covers feel quite cool on initial contact, although we like to emphasize that this style of cooling feature is typically short-lived and “wears off” after twenty to thirty minutes in bed. Still, this is a thoughtful addition and the sense of coolness can help people fall asleep.

The Albany Models
There are two Albany Spring Mattresses - an Albany Firm Tight Top and an Albany Soft Euro Top. These have slightly less Memory Feel when compared to the Brenham and Albany models, but they still have a lot of pressure relief due to the soft foams and highly-engineered pocket springs.

The Brenham Models
There are five Brenham models - two tight tops and three Euro tops.
All of these have a bit more memory foam than the Albany models, and tend to have a slightly deeper sense of Cushioning Depth as a result. The Brenham models also come in a much wider range of firmnesses with everything from an Very Firm to a Soft. In practice, we thought that these felt a bit more substantial than the Albany models with more Memory Feel.

Who We Think These Are Best For
We think the Elite Spring mattresses would be an excellent fit for anyone that wants a premium mattress, but doesn't necessarily want a "hybrid" or an all-foam design. While the Elite Spring mattresses do have some amount of memory foam, the quilted cover keeps these mattresses from feeling like you're "stuck in the mattress" as some people feel on mattresses with a lot of Memory Feel. These also have a rather impressive new coil unit with excellent support in the center-third of the mattress. This means that these models should be an excellent fit for people that tend to experience lower back pain on a mattress or people with wide shoulders that want their shoulder to "nestle" a little deeper than their hips.
The only people we'd steer away from the new Elite Spring models would be those that want a strong initial sense of memory foam. If that's you, then you might be better served by an all-foam mattress or a hybrid mattress design.
