Note: This is not a review. This is our plain-English explanation and overview of the Sealy mattresses sold from roughly 2017-2021. You will still see these models available in some stores and online.

If you’d prefer to watch rather than read, check out our Sealy 2017 Mattresses Overview video.

Also see our coverage of the current Sealy mattress line, introduced in late 2021: Sealy Mattress Line Overview (video).

Sealy Mattresses for 2017 to 2021

Sealy's mattress lineup for 2017-2021 includes 3 product lines: Response (comfort foams over spring support core), Conform (premium comfort foams over foam support core), and Hybrid (premium comfort foams over premium spring support core). Within each product line there are multiple collections available, including Essentials (entry level), Performance (mid level), and Premium (top of the line).

When you think of Sealy mattresses as a brand, you likely automatically also think "posturepedic" and for many years, 'Sealy Posturepedic' was a collection of mattresses.

For the mattresses introduced in 2021, Sealy did not use the term 'Posturepedic' to designate mattress models. Rather, the company used the term Posturepedic Technology to denote a class of features. The actual features differ depending on the mattress, and some of the entry-level beds don't include it at all, but when you do see a mattress advertised with 'Posturepedic Technology' it means there's some kind of zoned-support feature, where there's something 'extra' in the middle third of the mattress. Intended to better support the hip area (the heaviest part of your body), these features are meant to enhance back support.

It's worth noting that for the more current Sealy mattress line which debuted for 2022, Sealy has once more reverted to using "Posturepedic" as a product collection (the Posturepedic and Posturepedic Plus collections). See our more recent video on these models.

There are 11 mattresses in Sealy's Response collection. These are Sealy's traditional innerspring mattresses, which are further separated into three levels: Essential, Performance, and Premium.

Sealy Conform Mattress Collection

There are 8 mattresses in Sealy's Conform collection. These are Sealy's all-foam mattresses, which are further separated into three levels: Essential, Performance, and Premium.

Throughout the collection, you'll find a range of foams and memory foams. All models have standard polyurethane foam as a support base (higher end models include gel flecks in the support foam) topped by a variety of memory foams, sometimes in combination.

Sealy Hybrid Mattress Collection

For its 2017 collection, Sealy used the term "hybrid" as the name of a whole collection. 'Hybrid' can also be used more generically to denote a mattress made with a support unit of springs or coils, topped by a comfort layer of memory foam and/or other foams.

There are 6 mattresses in Sealy's Hybrid collection, which combine a pocketed-spring support unit (Sealy calls them 'encased' coils) under a variety of memory foams. They're a blend between the traditional feel and bounce of an innerspring mattress along with the pressure relief and conformance of memory foam.

Throughout the collection, you'll find a range of memory foams, including Sealy's ComfortSense gel memory foam and a Sealy Immersion memory foam. All have a smooth and stretchy mattress cover, sometimes with cooling properties.

Altogether, the Hybrid mattresses are Sealy's most expensive beds, and they use the most premium materials.
