Beautyrest Harmony Lux Quilted Mattresses
The Beautyrest Harmony line of mattresses is now in its second generation, redesigned for the 2023-2024 model year. As before, there are two collections in the line: The Harmony and Harmony Lux mattresses. And within those two collections, there are traditional-feeling quilted mattresses, which we cover here, as well as hybrid versions, which include more memory foam and are covered in a separate review.
Between the Harmony and Harmony Lux mattresses, there are about 15 total models. Then within each series, there are two levels or classes. On the Beautyrest website, as well as at some retailers like Macy's, you'll see models in the Harmony quilted collection with "Bay" in the names, while Harmony Lux models often have the word 'Island" in the model names.
We're going to discuss the Harmony Lux quilted models here. See our companion page on the less expensive Beautyrest Harmony Quilted mattresses.
You can also find Hybrid mattresses in the Harmony and Harmony Lux collections. These mattresses have a lot in common with the quilted versions covered here, but the Hybrid Beautyrest mattresses have more memory foam, and more "memory feel," that slow, melting into the bed feeling that we associate with memory foam.
In contrast, the quilted models discussed here have very little memory foam, and hardly any of that slow-responding memory feel.
The mattresses in the Beautyrest Harmony Lux quilted collection have similar construction and materials.

Sustainable fibers in mattress covers
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux quilted mattresses share a unique cover that features polyester fibers made from recycled water bottles. A company named Seaqual makes the fibers from plastic waste collected at sea by fishermen. The company buys the plastic from them, essentially paying them to help clean plastic from oceans and waterways.
Once cleaned, the plastic is made first into pellets, then spun into a fiber that can be used to make fabric.
Each queen-size mattress cover recycles the equivalent of 50 water bottles. You can read more about the Beautyrest/Seaqual partnership on the Harmony page of the Beautyrest website.
The covers of the Harmony Lux mattresses additionally feature functional side handles (helpful for rotating the bed). They also include a phase-change coating; this is a layer of microscopic plant-oil-based beads that help give the cover a coolness to the touch.
Some models also incorporate silver threads into the quilted cover; silver is also a known conductor of heat.

Pocketed coil units
All of the Harmony Lux quilted models have an 8" pocketed coil support unit with about 875 coils (queen size).
The Beautyrest Harmony mattresses use a standard fabric-pocketed spring. Differences in mattress feel and cushioning are achieved by using different types of wire/coil. For example, on the plush models, a springier, softer coil is used, while the firmer mattresses use a stiffer/firmer coil.
We discussed the company's T3 coils featured in the Beautyrest Black collection; these feature three wires twisted together, then formed into a coil. The Harmony Lux collection uses Beautyrest's T2 coils -- similar, but with two wires twisted together then coiled.
These T2 coils are super strong; they are interspersed with standard single-wire coils to vary the feel and cushioning of the mattress.
All of these Beautyrest coil units have a 4" foam perimeter going all the way around the mattress to assist with edge support.

Foams and memory foams
The mattresses in the Harmony Lux collections include a small amount of Beautyrest's ActiveResponse memory foam, but there's not enough memory foam to give them any kind of traditional slow-melting memory foam feel. Still, you're getting some of the pressure-relieving qualities of memory foam.
(If you are interested in a Beautyrest mattress that has more memory feel, see our coverage of the Beautyrest Harmony Hybrid and Harmony Lux Hybrid mattresses.)
A variety of other comfort foams are used to vary the softness (or feel) of each mattress. Some of the Harmony Lux mattresses include the company's Right Temp foam. This foam includes carbon flecks, a known heat conductor that's meant to help regulate temperature.
Beautyrest Harmony Lux Anchor Island Series
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux Anchor Island mattresses top out at a very tall 15".
The Lux quilted mattresses in the Harmony collection use Beautyrest's T2 coils, which have two wire strands twisted together to form a very firm coil. These firmer coils are interspersed with the standard coils used in the Harmony series.
Interestingly, you'll see the coil count in these Harmony Lux models listed as 1255 in a queen size; that's because Beautyrest is counting the T2 coils as two coils.
The Harmony Lux mattresses have InfiniCool Lux covers which include the silver fibers under the main cover. And additionally, the cover includes phase-change material. This can be thought of as tiny wax beads that take a while to warm up to your body. The idea is to keep you cooler while you are falling asleep. Most phase-change beads are made from petroleum-based wax. Beautyrest instead uses a plant-based oil, for some extra sustainability in addition to the recycled-plastic-fiber yarns in the cover.
We found that cushioning (how deeply you sink into the mattress) tracks fairly closely to overall softness. So you can expect closer conformance on the softer models, and less on the firmer ones.
In terms of bounce, like all of the Harmony Lux Quilted mattresses, you're getting above-average springiness. Edge support is good to excellent, with the softer mattresses having softer edge support.

Beautyrest Harmony Lux Coral Island Series
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux Coral Island mattresses are at the top of the quilted series, and they have some additional features over the Anchor Island models.
You're getting a little more memory foam (though not really enough to give you much memory feel), and you're getting an additional cooling feature. There's the same phase-change material and silver fibers as the Anchor Island mattresses, plus a layer of RightTemp Wave cooling foam. Essentially, this is a convoluted, charcoal-infused foam under the quilt layer with wave-like channels carved into it. The charcoal is a heat conductor while the channels in the foam help with air flow. Beautyrest calls this suite of cooling features InfiniCool Max.
These models use the same coil unit as the Anchor Island mattresses.
As with the Harmony versions, we found that cushioning (how deeply you sink into the mattress) tracks fairly closely to overall softness. So you can expect closer conformance on the softer models, and less on the firmer ones.
These models do have a tiny bit more memory feel than the other mattresses in this collection, but still not very much, and not enough to really give you that sinking-into-the-mattress feeling.
Bounce is above average. Edge support ranges from okay to excellent, with the firmer versions having better edge support.
