Best mattress foundation on a tight budget?

I have a full size mattress with no base. I'd like to get a base but need to keep it on a budget. What's the best way? Will a slat base and a bed frame work?

One of the least expensive solutions would bed foundation and simple metal frame, you could add a headboard later on. From me this is about $115 pre tax. Another way would be a full size platform bed.

You might check with mattress delivery people if they have a "good looking" used foundation they could let you have from another delivery if you offer to tip them and pay a re-delivery fee. They pick them up all the time when they remove old mattresses from people's homes.
