Hi there -- Thanks for your question. With the Zenhaven, a solid platform is recommended rather than a slatted base. This is principally because the Zenhaven is a two-sided mattress, which means that both the top and bottom of the mattress feature a layer of softer latex that is meant to be slept on. This softer latex would have a tendency to squeeze through the slats a bit which could negatively affect the longevity of the mattress. On a solid platform this would not be an issue.
