Hi Kar -- It's hard to know with 100% certainty what you're looking at, but from your description that sounds like a protective outer covering that is meant to be removed. To be sure, here are some is a high-resolution close-up pictures picture of the Tempur Cloud Luxe -- if the liner you're seeing is not shown in these pictures, this picture, then it is probably some kind of wrapping that is not part of the mattress.
