Thanks for your question. In some ways, this is a tricky one, because side and stomach sleepers are at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of the amount of softness they need from a mattress. Side sleepers generally need the softest and most conforming sleep surface, because the side of the body has the most curves. Your side also requires the most pressure relief due to your weight being spread over a small surface area, with much of the pressure being concentrated in the shoulders and hips. Meanwhile, stomach sleepers generally should have a bed that is less soft and conforming, because a bed that is too soft or conforming will tend to cause your spine to arch in an unnatural way while you are sleeping, which will result in back pain when you wake up. That said, for the same reason, the answer to this question is also quite easy, since the best softness level for someone that sleeps equally on their side and stomach will generally be somewhere in the middle -- not too soft for sleeping on your stomach, but not too hard for sleeping on your back. In the case of the Saatva choices, the best option for this type of sleeper would generally be the Luxury Firm model. Of course, there are other factors that go into the equation other than simply what position you sleep in -- such as your weight and age, or your personal preferences around softness, temperature and the like. To find the best matches for your particular case, the best thing is to take the personal mattress finder quiz.

Goodbed doesn't offer ANY deal on a Saatva mattress because it is only sold online, through Saatva. This is an outright lie and brings into question any of your reviews. Hi Pat -- Thanks for bringing this to our attention. You are correct that we don't currently offer any special deal on Saatva mattresses. As such, I am removing this sentence from that answer: "GoodBed offers the best deal available on this model, as well as any other Saatva mattresses." That said, at the time we posted that answer, we were experimenting with a program that allowed our users to place order with a variety of retailers through GoodBed, and we were offering a special deal on Saatva mattresses that were ordered in this way. So, this statement was absolutely true at that time. |
In general, I would say that Luxury Firm is the best all around choice. It's a medium firmness because it's the preferred firmness level by the average sleeper, including all 3 sleeping positions. Unless you know with a fair degree of certainty you like a very soft mattress, the Luxury Firm is probably the better option. |
I am not happy with the mattress. I was not eager to purchase to begin with because although the ones they sell in Canada is made in Canada, however the price is in USA dollars. I intend to write to our member of parliament to stop this practice. Obviously they pay the workers here Canadian wages in Canadian dollars so why do they charge USA dollars to purchase it in Canada. The next problem is a comfort. We bought the luxury hard model King size luxury hard model. WE noticed the dent that our bodies made in the mattress. Neither of us are overweight or large we are between the height of 5'2"-5'8". I think it is far too expensive for the comfort it gives. I have not had a good night sleep on it yet. We also purchased the higher model and I cant sit on the side of it I slide off it and find it dangerous so we are returning It. I should have bought one true and tried model from the Bay. I am very disappointed, and hope to be able to return it and get our money back. |
