Unfortunately, it's impossible to give a universal "rating" for any mattress in terms of being good for bad backs. Therapedic makes a high quality mattress in my opinion, but in my experience most people tend to be disappointed when they try to 'treat' a bad back with a new mattress. There are just too many variables and causes for bad backs, back pain, neck pain, etc. The only real exception is when you know for sure that the sole cause of your bad back is your current mattress. Then a new mattress definitely can help just by virtue of keeping you properly aligned and supported at night.
