How should I rotate my Stearns & Foster mattress?

How, and how often, should I turn my Stearns & Foster mattress?

One Answer:

Thanks for your question. First off, chances are, your Stearns & Foster mattress (if purchased in the last 5-10 years) is one-sided, which means that you can only rotate it, not flip it.

In terms of how often to rotate it, when new it's a good idea to rotate it every 3 months or so. You can reduce the frequency to every 6 months after the first couple years, and maybe even to once a year after 5-6 years.

In terms of how to rotate it, this depends on its size and your bedroom furniture. If you are sleeping on a King-size mattress, then you can actually rotate it a quarter turn at a time (since King-size mattresses are nearly square -- 76" x 80"). That said, this will not work if your mattress sits in a frame that is oriented a certain way (eg, with a headboard at one end). If you are sleeping on anything but a King-size mattress, then it's even easier -- you can only rotate it head to toe.
