Note: This is not a review. This is our plain-English explanation and overview of the Purple Rejuvenate Luxe mattresses line.
If you’d prefer to watch rather than read, watch our Purple Rejuvenate Luxe Mattresses Overview video. We also have an overview of the Purple Restore Hybrid collection, the middle collection in the Purple lineup.
Purple Rejuvenate Luxe Mattresses
New for 2023, the Purple Rejuvenate Luxe mattress collection, which includes a total of three mattress models, represents the top-of-the-line in the Purple range of beds.
The Luxe collection sits on top of the Restore Hybrid collection, which we have also covered in depth. Like that middle collection, the Rejuvenate Luxe mattresses feature a pocket spring support unit as the base. They also include Purple's proprietary GelFlex Grid comfort material, but the Luxe mattresses use a different, upgraded version of it called the GelFlex Grid Plus.
The biggest difference is apparent when you look at these models: They have a traditional, luxury-mattress look, with deeply quilted covers. And these are VERY tall mattresses, ranging from 15.5" to 16.5" tall -- tall enough that you'll need special deep-pocketed fitted sheets.
In addition to the common features below, it is worth noting that all of these models are compatible with an adjustable base. Because they are heavy mattresses, we found that they conform to the adjustable base particularly well.
As with other mattresses that have quilted covers, the cover does bunch up a little when the adjustable base is fully bent (this is normal and in our view not bothersome).
Purple GelFlex Grid Plus
The main comfort material in all of these models is the company's proprietary GelFlex Grid Plus. Made from solid gel, this material might have an unforgiving appearance, but it has some really interesting benefits in our opinion, especially in terms of pressure relief and temperature/air flow.
Without getting too technical, the gel grid offers what we would call "non-lineal resistance." Think about a piece of foam, for example: When you press it, it immediately gives under the pressure of your hand, and leaves behind an impression of your handprint.
Purple's gel grid does not do that. Instead, when you press down on it, it holds its shape for a long time until eventually the grid collapses to the side -- not directly down. This also means that the gel grid AROUND your hand does not collapse at all. The grid buckles more than compresses.
In practical terms, this offers unique pressure relief, giving you both support and also that "sinkage" your heavier and pointier parts need to prevent hot spots or pain.
The company's GelFlex Grid Plus is a bit different than the GelFlex Grid used in the Restore Hybrid and entry-level Essential mattresses. First, it's not used as the primary comfort layer. It's underneath a thickly quilted cover and sometimes additional materials. So in these mattresses, the grid assumes more of a support role, helpful for conformance and weight distribution.
The other major benefit of the GelFlex Grid Plus is cooling. Gel is a proven conductor of heat. Many mattresses use flecks of gel in their comfort foams, but Purple's GelFlex material is SOLID gel. In addition to its ability to conduct heat, the construction of the grid--in hollow columns-- allows for what we think is the biggest contributor to sleeping cool: Air flow. Especially combined with the coil support unit, that allows for a lot of vertical movement of air in the Purple Restore Hybrid mattresses.
The Purple website has a great deal more information on their proprietary gel.
Coil Support Units
The three models in the Purple Rejuvenate Luxe collection share a similar support unit, with fabric-encased springs. The Rejuvenate Luxe models all use the same coil unit, with zoned support. That is, they have firmer/stronger coils in the central third of the bed, under your hip area, for extra support.
Along the edges of the coil unit are rows of stronger edge-support coils to help firm up the sides, helpful if you tend to sit or lay on the edge of your mattress.
Quilted Covers
The mattresses all have similar covers. They have a very traditional quilted look, with big puffy loft, giving them a familiar luxury-mattress look. This is accomplished by stitching about 1.5" of soft foam right into the cover.
The covers all have an anti-microbial treatment, intended to help keep your mattress fresh. The cover also has moisture-wicking properties, and according to the manufacturer, the Rejuvenate Luxe mattresses include more of the moisture-wicking material than the Restore Hybrid collection.
Edge Support
All of the coil units feature stronger edge-support coils along the sides. Since we last evaluated Purple mattresses a couple of years ago, we think that edge support has really improved overall.
In addition to the edge support coils, Purple also includes a foam "frame" for the GelFlex Grid Plus layers (you can see that in the illustration above). This foam frame sits on top of the edge support coils and gives extra support and firmness right along the edges.
Purple Rejuvenate
The first mattress in the Rejuvenate Luxe collection, the Rejuvenate, measures 15.5" tall (compare that to most mattresses, which are in the 11" or 12" range). It's a LOT of mattress.
It all starts with the 8" pocketed-spring support unit. On top of that is an inch of transition foam, which serves as a buffer between the springs and a 2.5" layer of the GelFlex Grid Plus. There's another inch of foam on top of that followed by the luxuriously quilted cover.
This mattress has an interesting feel. The top quilting layer and foam is very soft, but the GelFlex Grid Plus underneath it is firmer. The result is a bed that has a firmer feel but with a lot of softness and conformance from that top quilt layer.
Overall, we rate it a Medium Firm on our scale, with a medium or average level of cushioning, so there's a blend of feeling like you are floating on top of your mattress and sinking into it.
In terms of bounce, there's a lot, between the firmness and quick response of the GelFlex Grid Plus and the springs below. We thought that the edge support works really well on this model and is especially stable when lying right on the edge.
Purple RejuvenatePlus
The next model in the collection is the Purple RejuvenatePlus--and it one-ups the Rejuvenate with another inch in height, for a total of a whopping 16.5". The Plus version uses the same 8" coil unit found in the other two Purple Luxe models. There's a 2" layer of transition foam on top of that, then a 2.5" layer of the GelFlex Grid Plus. So far, it's similar to the Rejuvenate.
On top of the gel layer, the RejuvenatePlus has a 2" layer of Purple's Active Response foam, a latex-like manufactured foam that's a very dense, high quality foam with pressure-relieving properties.
Overall, the RejuvenatePlus is softer than the Purple Rejuvenate; it's a Medium on our scale, with more conformance and cushioning depth, giving you more of a snuggled or cradled feeling. It has the same luxurious and soft quilted top, this time with a faux Eurotop look.
Because there's quite a bit of foam between you and the GelFlex Grid Plus, our tester (at about 200 pounds) felt like he really wasn't engaging or compressing the gel grid. He felt "suspended" on the mattress--a unique and pleasant feeling.
Like the Rejuvenate, this is a pretty bouncy mattress. We didn't feel that edge support was quite as good as on the Rejuvenate. It was better when laying on the edge than sitting.
Purple RejuvenatePremier
The top model in the Purple Rejuvenate Luxe collection is the RejuvenatePremier, which measures 18.5" tall! This is a very heavy mattress and fortunately Purple offers free in-home delivery and setup with this mattress (as well as the others in the Luxe collection).
This model features an 8" pocket spring support unit. One small difference is the addition of edge-support springs on all side of the mattress, not just the long sides.
After a layer of transition foam, there's a 2.5" layer of the GelFlex Grid Plus. Then you get a variety of foams on top of that, including another layer of transition foam, a SECOND 1.5" layer of GelFlex Grid Plus, an inch of natural latex, and an inch of Active Response foam before it's all topped with the quilt layer.
Why two layers of the GelFlex Grid Plus? We thought this might particularly benefit heavier sleepers, who might benefit from the extra pressure relief.
With so many foam layers, this mattress is easily the softest of the three Purple Luxe mattresses. We judge it a Medium Soft on our scale, with very deep cushioning. It has pretty much the maximum amount of conformance and "sinking in" feeling, but without memory foam, so you don't get a "quicksand" feeling
Once again, this mattress is above average in terms of bounce. And as with the RejuvenatePlus, it has good edge support, with very good support for laying right on the edge.
Other Factors to Consider

Warranty
- Warranty Length: 10 years
- Cover is warranted for 2 years
- Indentation Coverage: 1” and above
One of the biggest, if not THE biggest complaints about any mattress from consumers regards body impressions — the inability of a mattress to spring back, eventually creating a low spot/sinkhole in the mattress. As such, mattress warranties all contain a term defining how big a sag or ‘body impression’ (measured when no one is on the mattress) is considered a defect, and thus covered under the warranty. The industry standard for mattresses is generally between ¾” and 1.5”. Purple has chosen to cover indentations that meet or exceed 1”. Practically speaking, that means any softening or sagging would need to be at least that deep before the warranty would offer you protection. See: Purple warranty policy.
