The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is a modern memory foam hybrid that combines the pressure relief of memory foam with the support of underlying pocket springs. But is it right for you?
Founder of GoodBed, Leading Mattress Expert
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is a modern hybrid mattress that combines the feel of memory foam with the underlying support and flexibility of a pocket spring mattress. This effectively combines the “best of both worlds” and creates a lot of pressure relief without the overly “stuck” or "dead" feeling that is sometimes felt on a memory foam mattress.
We found the Nectar Luxe Hybrid to be a little firmer than a typical Medium-Firm, which should make it a good fit for most back and side-sleepers. The memory foam on the top of the mattress feels somewhat solid and substantial on first touch, which creates a feeling of initial firmness and support that gradually softens and relaxes with body heat. This sense of gradual softening also creates a lot of pressure relief. However, there is quite a lot of memory foam (three inches), and we thought that this might be too much comfort material to hold alignment for most stomach sleepers.
In terms of overall Softness, we found the Nectar Luxe Hybrid to have a Firm initial feel, with a sense of slightly deeper than average Cushioning Depth. In other words, the memory foam at the mattress surface is firm on initial contact, but then gradually yields to contour to the curves of a person’s body. The underlying pocket coils also help with this. The end result is a feeling of sleeping slightly “in” the mattress.
It also has a considerable amount of Memory Feel, although this is not a really slow responding memory foam as you might find with some memory foam mattresses. We’d put it at just above average for overall Memory Feel.
The Nectar Luxe also has a number of other notable features. First and foremost, the cover of the mattress is noticeably cool-to-the-touch. This kind of cooling feature is becoming more common with luxury mattresses on the market today, and creates a real and measurable sense of coolness over the first twenty to thirty minutes in bed.
In terms of Motion Isolation, we thought it performed well. The combination of memory foam at the surface of the mattress with underlying pocket coils means that it effectively isolates forces and prevents these from being transferred to the rest of the mattress. In fact, we typically think that this style of mattress is amongst the best for overall motion isolation. It should also work well on an adjustable base. Because it’s a hybrid mattress that uses pocket springs, these are able to easily flex and bend with an adjustable base.
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is a memory foam hybrid mattress from one of the most popular brands in the online mattress space. It combines the pressure relief of dense memory foam with resilience and quick response of a pocketed coil hybrid system.
The “feel” characteristics of a mattress cannot be universally better or worse. They can only be more or less desirable to you, based on your personal preferences. For this reason, we call these “preference-based” attributes. Our ratings here are based on objective measurements that we apply to a consistent scale for products from all brands.
We found the Nectar Luxe Hybrid to be just slightly firmer than a typical Medium-Firm mattress. That said, we talk about mattress softness (or firmness) in two ways: Softness and Cushioning Depth. We use the term Softness to refer to the sense of initial contact with the mattress. In the case of the Luxe Hybrid, the memory foam feels quite dense and "solid" to touch. This creates a firm initial feel that gradually relaxes with pressure in the style of most dense memory foam mattresses.
Despite the slightly firm initial Softness, we found the Luxe Hybrid to have slightly deeper than average Cushioning Depth. In other words, as the memory foam relaxes the sleeper begins to settle more deeply into the mattress to create a slight sensation of sleeping "within" the mattress instead of on top of it. If you like to feel somewhat nestled within a mattress, this could be a great option for you.
The Luxe Hybrid also has a slightly higher than average amount of Memory Feel. This isn't the firmest memory foam we've ever felt (and firmer memory foams typically have more Memory Feel), but it's more than the average mattress that has some amount of memory foam.
The Nectar also has a more than average amount of Bounce. The underlying pocket coils are robust and provide a noticeably sense of rebound upon compression. As we like to put it, these are quite "peppy" coils that create a significant amount of bounce despite the deadening effect of memory foam.

The key to good back support is for the mattress to support your spine in a “neutral” position while you sleep, meaning that the shape of your spine is roughly the same as when you're standing. The ability of any given mattress to do this will vary by sleeper, depending on its “fit” for your weight, body shape, and preferred sleep position(s).
We thought that the Luxe Hybrid would be a good option for most side sleepers. The combination of memory foam and underlying pocketed coils creates pressure relief and adapts well to body contours.
We also thought that Luxe Hybrid would work well for back sleepers. In fact, we think that back sleepers might be the best fit for the Luxe Hybrid. The slightly firm surface and underlying coils hold alignment well in this position.
Many stomach sleepers would likely also do well on the Luxe Hybrid, although we might caution very heavy stomach sleepers somewhat, as the significant amount of comfort material might throw them out of alignment. Stomach sleepers often prefer firmer mattress surfaces for this reason.

Inadequate pressure relief from your mattress results in “pressure points,” which can be a source of pain, soreness, loss of circulation, restlessness, and other problems. Pressure relief requirements will vary be sleeper, with side sleepers needing the most. Likewise, the amount of pressure relief that a given mattress provides will also vary by sleeper, depending on its “fit” for your weight and body shape.
We rated the Pressure Relief of the Luxe Hybrid to be Pretty Good to Good depending on body type. The memory foam layers do a lot to relieve pressure, although we have felt memory foam that is denser and more pressure-relieving on some other mattresses. Still, we thought this would do a good job for many/most sleepers.
With the “features” of a mattress, performance will tend to be consistent across all sleepers – without regards to your body type or preferences. However, these attributes have differing levels of importance to each sleeper, which is why we consider them “priority-based” characteristics.
The Nectar Luxe also has a cool-to-touch cover. This creates a real and noticeable sensation of coolness on initial contact with the Luxe Hybrid, although our Test Lab has found that this cooling effect tends to be short-lived. Second, we thought it performed well in terms of overall Motion Isolation. There is a little bit of motion that's transmitted through the knit cover, but the underlying memory foam and pocket springs do an excellent job of preventing this from being felt across the mattress.
In terms of Green Features, there are really none to speak of here. This is a memory foam hybrid over an underlying pocket spring.
We also thought it performed well on an adjustable base.

At the surface of the mattress we have a smooth, stretch-knit cover and a waterfall edge (this means that the top layer of fabric is slightly "overflowing" the edge into the side panel). This kind of stretch-knit cover is typical of modern hybrid mattresses, and allows the underlying foam layers to be in direct contact with the sleeper's body. Just underneath this, we have a layer of somewhat fast-responding memory foam. Next, we have a layer of poly foam to act as a transition layer and hold structure for the mattress. Just underneath this, we have a layer of eight-inch pocket springs on top of a 1" poly foam base layer.
Most notably, the comfort layers are contained within the fabric of the mattress cover. This is then slipped over the internal pocket spring unit.
The “value” of any mattress is both subjective and personal – reflecting how well it meets that person’s unique sleep needs and preferences, relative to their budget. As a result, our ratings in this area are focused on more objective factors like quality and longevity.
In terms of Durability and Value, we thought that the Nectar Luxe Hybrid was Pretty Good. Memory foam and pocket springs are both known to be durable materials. If there's a weak link in the overall construction, it's likely to be found in the transition layer, which uses basic poly foam. Still, we'd expect this to hold up well with typical use.
