Classic Brands Adjustable Comfort Base Overview

Here at GoodBed, we're asked more and more frequently about adjustable bases, which got their start as a home version of an adjustable hospital bed. Now, of course, they look nothing like a piece of clinical equipment. They're meant to be seen, and to increase the functionality and comfort of your bed at home.

For more on adjustable bases in general, check out our Adjustable Base Buyer's Guide.

The Classic Brands Adjustable Comfort Base is available in Twin XL, Full, Queen, and King sizes. There's no "split king" size however (where you would be able to control both sides independently). To get split king functionality with two remotes, you could order two of the Twin XL frame and place them side by side.

The Classic Brands frame has all the standard features you'll find on most adjustable bases, including the ability to raise both the head and the foot, along with several presets which can be easily re-programmed. Included are USB ports right on the frame, handy for plugging in a phone, and a timer for the massage features (some completing models require you to turn off the massage manually).

The Classic Brands base doesn't have a couple of high-end features like a wall-hugger feature and under-bed lighting (something you'll see on more expensive models).

The Classic Brands Adjustable Base has a total weight capacity of 1,000 pounds, which would include the weight of your mattress. Here's our closer look at its features and functionality.

Sizes

Average Price

(Varies by retailer)

Twin XL $500
Double/Full $600
Queen $650
King $700

Position Features

The Classic Brands adjustable base has both head and foot tilt, which can be operated separately or together. There is a "flat" preset button that returns the bed to the original (flat) position with one touch. To raise and lower the base you simply hold the "up" or "down" button for the head and/or foot.

There are three other preset buttons in addition to "flat" and all of these can be easily re-programmed with your own settings.

TV/Reading: This is a pre-set head-up feature that's set by the factory which raises the head and foot for a position comfortable for watching TV, reading or using a laptop in bed.

Zero-G: This setting raises both head and foot a small amount, meant to be a position that takes the most pressure off of any one part of the body. The idea is to feel as if you are floating.

Lounge: This setting raises head and foot about halfway, but is meant to be re-programmed to your own preferences.

Massage Features

The Adjustable Comfort Adjustable Frame includes a massage feature for both head and foot, and each can be operated independently or together. You get three speeds for the vibration feature, and when we tested it on a carpeted floor, we did not noticed excessive motor noise or vibration on the floor.

The massage feature turns off automatically after 15 minutes (or you can turn it off manually of course).

Wireless Remote

The remote control is wireless. There's a small display screen that shows the position of the bed. The buttons are not backlit -- a nice feature we have seen on other models. There's also no 'flashlight' function -- another feature we sometimes see.

The remote does include a 'lock' function that locks all the buttons, helpful if you have pets or small children that might try to raise or lower the base.

Assembly and Furniture

The Classic Brands frame will arrive in a large box. From there, you'll need to move it to your bedroom and assemble it, which isn't as involved as it may sound, and the box includes all the tools you'll need.

The Adjustable Comfort base is designed to drop right into any full-frame bed furniture, like a sleigh bed, with no additional hardware -- you would just need to remove any slats or supports that might be already in the middle of your furniture.

If you want to attach just a headboard, Classic Brands sells an accessory bracket kit you can use to do that.

When you assemble it, you'll also need to decide on height. Depending on how you install the feet. they can be 4", 6.5" or 10.5" in height, so you'll want to factor in the height of your mattress and decide how high you want to be off the floor.

Delivery, Returns, & Warranty

  • Varies by retailer

The Classic Brands Adjustable Comfort Frame comes in a big box, so you'll be responsible for getting it into the house and putting it together unless your retailer offers some kind of assembly service. Cost for shipping varies depending on where you buy it. You can't order it directly from Classic Brands.

    •  3 year warranty

Classic Brands advertises a three-year warranty for the Adjustable Comfort base.
