What are the important qualities of the Simmons BackCare mattresses?

The Back Care models are a bit out of date from the Simmons line. Simmons ran a few Back Care lines between 2001-2008. One version had innerspring coils, another version had pocketed coils. Their biggest feature was the zoned foam where it was Firm/Soft/Firm/Soft/Firm from the head to foot of the mattress. It made for a unique feel.

Since 2008 there hasn't been a revival of the Back Care models. They stopped doing Back Care Beautyrests about the same time they bought Comfor-Pedic and began their own line of memory foam mattresses.

Hi Andrew - FYI, they do still have BackCare mattresses on the market. I don't know if they're the same as the ones you used to carry, but you can see some here at Sears, for example.

I don't think those are still in production. The beds from Sears were posted a year ago with no specs/information on the details of the mattresses. I just googled Simmons BackCare and the first couple pages only had reviews. Sears is the only website offering them to purchase and I think that site is out of date. To the original poster, if you are considering one of the Sears models, call ahead to be 100% certain they have it in stock and it is brand new since those postings are a year old.

****We are sleeping on a California King Simmon's Back Care mattress that was purchased during August 2007. It is a great mattress for anyone with back problems that is looking for help. Several friends with back problems have been looking for the Back Care units but have been told by Simmons that they no longer produce the Back Care line and do not intend to produce special back care products again. We will be looking elsewhere for a back care mattress when our current units wear out. A true loss for those with back problems.
