When is the best time of year to buy a mattress?
Holidays are touted as the best time to save money on mattresses. While there is some truth to that, the reality is that not all holidays are equal and the best holidays for one retailer may be different than the best holidays for another. Each mattress retailer tends to choose a few time periods, spread throughout the year, during which they offer their deepest discounts, as well as other times in which they offer lesser discounts.
Of course, no matter what time of year it is, you want to be sure you are getting the best mattress price that is currently available. For that, make sure to check our full list of the best current mattress deals that are available right now across all online retailers.

Which holidays offer the biggest mattress discounts?
Traditionally speaking, Labor Day, Memorial Day, and President’s Day have been the most common choices for the deepest holiday mattress discounts, with 4th of July, Black Friday / Cyber Monday, and New Year’s being strong contenders as well. That said, fueled by the growth of the online channel, the level of mattress discounting available during Black Friday / Cyber Monday has risen significantly over the past couple of years, to the point that it has been at least on par with the other biggest mattress shopping holidays. In addition, eager to spread their sales out over the year, many bedding retailers have also added MLK Day, Veteran’s Day, and Columbus Day (a.k.a. Indigenous People’s Day) to their discount calendar. For some retailers, even non-work holidays like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Tax Day (April 15) can provide an excuse for a sale or special discount.
Of course, not all retailers want their promotions to be tied to holidays – some prefer instead to assign sales periods to a season – think Spring Sale, Summer Sale, etc. – or a date that is special only to them (such as the anniversary of when they first opened for business).
Should I wait for a holiday to buy a mattress?
The take-away here is that the biggest mattress sales aren’t exclusive to the biggest holidays. There are discounts and promotions happening throughout the year, and often they are as big or bigger than the savings you can get on the major holidays.
