Worst Purchase EVER

Every morning I wake up close to tears, and say I am going to write a review, so I am finally going to do it. About two and a half years ago I convinced my now husband, that it was time to ditch our crappy discount, hand-me-down mattress we'd been sleeping on, and invest in a great bed. We both have bad backs from playing sports, we both have stressful jobs, and sound, comfortable sleep is so important for both those issues. So, we walked over to our local fidi sleepys to spend a considerable amount of money, probably on a tempurpedic. Store experience was great, they used a cool machine to look at the amount of firmness each of us needed, and by the end we walked out buying a pretty expensive sleeptolive mattress (same firmness on both sides). What a mistake. Long story short, the bed dips in the middle. It always has. After 6 months, we actually put our old mattress pad that we had bought to disguise the awfulness of our old bed on our new, expensive bed!! Finally after 2 years of frustration, I took action, called sleepys to see if there was anything we could do. I find out that we have a great warranty, and may be able to do do something about this mess after all. Yay! They send out someone to look at our bed, and it turns out I really do sleep on an angle! The "string" test showed that sure enough our bed dips on both sides, but about an inch more on mine. So the tech sends his report to sleepys/their third party mattress reviewer -- we are so excited that the prospect of a good, comfortable sleep is on the horizon, and then we heard from sleepys. Got our long-awaited letter in the mail…and…THEY DENIED OUR CLAIM. Really!?! After so much great, helpful customer service, we received a cold, inhuman awful letter. That provided little information, other than something to the tune of “your mattress is defective, but not defective enough, deal with it”. I am beyond irate, uncomfortable, tired, and will never shop at Sleepy's or buy Sleep To Live ever again, and neither should you.

Buyer Beware!

I received a Kingsdown Kristen mattress/box spring in April of 2013 as a direct replacement with a $400 fee from the manufacturer for an original discontinued mattress/box spring from October of 2006. After only one year the Kristen REPLACEMENT mattress has already softened with bulges, lumps and sagging and feels much like sleeping on the side of a small hill. I religiously follow the Kingsdown recommendation from the Owner’s Manual and rotate the mattress every three months and even have to change sides of the bed every week or so to try to find a comfortable and firm side of the bed without all of the aforementioned. After many mornings of waking up with a stiff back, I made a warranty claim with inspection to no avail as it didn’t meet the company’s selective and self-serving criteria. Their response letter was filled with inaccuracies and merely quoted their standard minimum policy. After purchasing two “high end” beds from this company, I would NOT recommend investing $2000+ in any of their product lines! Frederick A. Bianco Hunt Valley, MD

Warranty not backed by company and not all exceptions listed

Our Warranty was LT ("For as long as Kingsdown product is owned by original purchaser") At the time it was bought it was excellent but it started sagging across the middle. We called Levins Brass Beds where we purchasd it and an independent person was sent by Kingsdown. He measured the sagging of the bed and it was "jus"t at the acceptable level. (Meaning there WAS SAGGING) So NOTHING was done. "LIFETIME TO ORIGINAL OWNE"R evidently does not apply NOW. If it was just at the ACCEPTABLE SAGGING LEVEL you can imagine what we have now. And we turned and flipped the mattress every three (3) months as stated in the brochure that came with it. The independent person also told us that if there was even one spot on the mattress Kingsdown would do nothing/not accept it back. So when it's time to buy a mattress go with another brand!! Kingsdown does not stand behind their product or THEIR WRITTEN WORD I am so unhappy with this bed but KINGSDOWN does not stand behind it's word .I called after we had slept in it for a while because you could see the body form when the bedspread was on the bed which made it look like a cheap and it WAS NOT CHEAP. The lady that sold it to us said that was normal. I highly suggest you buy from another company if the company (my was Levin's Brass Beds) does not stand behind it's bed. If they sell it, they should be the ones you have to deal with not Kingsdown if something happens to it. Also when it was delivered the guys had a very sharp turn after they got it upstairs and they could have damaged it but this independent person sent out said that was highly unlikely...he doesn't have to sleep on this mattress. It's been 13 years and LT -( For as long as Kingsdown product is owned by the original purchaser) mean nothing to Kingsdown. And if you have the choice, don't buy one you have to flip and turn every three months. They won't even let you rate the warranty in the PROS and CONS in the above.Doesn't allow it to SHOW UP!!

Internal structure failure

This mattress was not cheap. We absolutely loved it for the first year. Then one morning I woke up with a sore back. That night when I went to bed I felt like I was being "sucked down" and I couldn't roll over. Woke up the next morning with a sore back again. That night when I went to bed I noticed that when I got in bed I definitely "sunk" down into the mattress, I tried to reposition and felt a "wall" between my husband and myself and I noticed he seemed "higher" than me. I asked him to roll towards me and when he did he FELL ON TOP of me! The mattress was not one complete unit but more like a pair of twin beds under a memory foam pillow top, We both got out of bed and my side never raised back up! The side I slept on had COLLAPSED approximately 6 inches in on itself! The outer rim of the mattress did not cave in. We are now taking turns sleeping between the bed and the sofa since this mattress will not accommodate 2 people. We are not rowdy kids in bed and we are not overweight. The mattress was deilvered new from the store and hadn't been moved or handled since it was purchase 18 months ago. I am still attempting to contact the company. The store I bought it from has closed.

Horrible, expensive and untrustworthy

We bought a Kingsdown Magnificence mattress on 8/23/08. It was very expensive. We paid $2,557.28 for the King set. The 10 year warranty was junk. Just 5 years later the bed sagged 3 inches so we submitted a claim. The inspector who came to our home was surprised by the visible defects. I weight 185, my wife is just 125. For 2 years i complained about hip pain. I even got an xray. Well we got a new bed 6 weeks ago. I never felt better. We went to mattress firm who we bought the bed from in Alpharetta GA to complain. The manager said they fired Kingsdown for poor quality and lack of warranty support. Do not trust these people..

crappy

After 3 1/2 years got 1 inch sags where we sleep. The 20 year warranty is useless because the sags must be 1 1/2 inches before they will replace. With the sags that we have now we wake up with sore backs/hips in the morning. They will not replace. Money wasted. Over $1,000.00 for 3 years of comfort.

Rip-Off

Worst POS bed I've ever been suckered into buying and by far the most expensive. This overpriced mattress gets hot and STAYS hot even when I go back an hour later to make the bed it is still warm! We've had it barely a year and we have the sagging dents, however we do not meet the 'warranty' criteria. Customer service is uninterested at best. Don't let the furniture store guy fool you into buying this product because all it means is a big commission for him/her and a big PITA for you.

Tear in latex just after 9months!

After several months of searching for the right mattress and going through two separate mattress returns with our furnture company, we finally settled on a Kingsdown Dual Mattress (meaning each side has a different level of comfort and support.) We absolutely loved it. Over and over again, we commented to each other about what a great mattress this was. But then after 9months of ownership I woke up one morning feeling a tear in the latex top. Underneath the fabric cover there was a clear 6 inch tear with spring coming up through it. I could not believe it! What made it worse was since I bought it on clearance, there was no warranty. Well it was great while it lasted (only 9months)! Needless to say, I am very dissappointed, Because we loved the comfort of this mattress, I am thinking about somehow repairing it myself.
