Manufacturers such as Hästens, Natura, Hypnos, Kluft and Shifman are among the mattress companies who cater to celebrities from Oprah to Angelina.

Among mattresses that feature unique luxury elements, a celeb favorite is the Vividus by the Swedish mattress company Hästens. It is rumored that both Angelina Jolie and Tom Cruise have purchased this costly (up to $65,000!), handmade, horsehair mattress. Vividus mattresses are unique, and signed by a master craftsman. “Each one takes 140-160 hours to build” and they are made using only the finest natural materials.
If space age comfort is your thing, Tempur-Pedic’s memory foam technology is both pioneering and popular. The press reports that Kelly Osbourne bought a Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattress for her brother Jack’s 26th birthday. Osbourne is quoted as saying, “I got him a new mattress, it’s the same kind I use – one of those Tempur-Pedic kinds – it’s like sleeping on a cloud! I’m sure he appreciated it.”
Handcrafted Details
Handcrafted mattresses tend to be carefully assembled using the highest quality materials available, hand-stitching, and flawless craftsmanship. President Barack Obama is alleged to have a Shifman mattress (they are also thought to have provided mattresses for the Clinton administration). Another brand of handcrafted mattress linked to celebrities is Kluft, and stars rumored to sleep on these opulent mattresses include Cindy Crawford, Demi Moore and George Clooney.
Another celeb favorite is the expensive Hypnos line of mattresses (“the most comfortable bed in the world”), which counts among its’ clientele Oprah Winfrey and the Queen of England. Claiming to be the “only bed manufacturer to actively supply the British Royal Family and the Royal Household,” these handmade mattresses come recommended by royalty.
Eco-Friendly
Hollywood is going green, and mattress purchases are no exception to the rule. Eva Longoria tried out a latex foam mattress from the Simmons Natural Care line by Danny Seo, and allegedly ordered a custom-made version of it for her home. Likewise, famously eco-loving Sandra Bullock’s mattress has been rumored to be a Natura.
Overall, the luxury mattress business seems to have rebounded strongly from the recession, and celebrities are not the only people to indulge in the best mattresses money can buy. Those who have the means, and who understand the importance of a good night’s sleep, can share a mattress with the stars.
