Serta Paula Deen Whitaker Sunset Memory Foam Mattress

We bought the Serta Paula Deen Whitaker Sunset Memory Foam mattress after trying it out in the store & loving it, & the price couldn't be beat. About two months into owning & sleeping on this mattress I noticed that my side of the bed was not springing back during the day, meaning there was a large dip where I sleep. I tried rolling more toward the middle of the bed where it was much firmer, only to find myself back in the "dip". We have turned the mattress around, but you can only do that so many times & with the way the bed is made, you can't flip it over. This mattress was purchased because both my Fiance & I have back problems. We thought the memory foam would be great for that, but it has only made things worse. Not only do I wake up with more aches & pains than the previous mattress, the pains last throughout the day. I guess you get what you pay for in the end.

Normal body impressions can occur over time due to the nature of foams and fibers when exposed to body weight and temperature after consistent use. We recommend making sure that the box spring and bed frame are still up to par and providing proper support.

Body impressions make for hard nights sleep

This mattress was supposed to be something great for mine and my husbands back. First off it is way too hard. After about 30 days our body impressions were molded into the mattress on our sides, leaving a huge lump near the middle where we don't sleep. It gets so warm evef on the coldest day my husband sweats so much, hd has to kick off ghe sheets. I'd love to just get up and buy a new mattress all together. Not satisfied with this serta mattress.

painful I sleep on the couch

We had painful backs right away we put a 3 inch memory foam pad on it which was slightly better I sleep on the couch most nights my back will not relax in any position on this mattress it was a waste of money

Disagree with Consumer Report. Sags in center in 1 mo.

Store trial OK and firm but told it was softer from trial use. Mine would be harder but soften in short time. It has, after only one month, right in the center. Edge much firmer and more comfortable than spring area, sags at hip line on 140 lb 5' 2" gal. after an hour use. Our heads slip down off pillow. Only two layers of foam on top of springs gives husband (5'10" 212 lbs.) a feeling of sleeping on an egg carton. Got an iSeries Expression, (hardest mattress) put a thick pad on it and he is fine. I put an additional box store 1" foam topper on my side and with the mattress support and the added softness it's great. Beats the iSeries Promenence for a grand less and no more back ache.

Worst mattress

This mattress was amazingly comfortable when we first got it. We bought 3 for a vacation home that we have. Within 90 days, ALL THREE had giant indentations. We contacted RTG warranty - 2 are 1.5 inch depressed and 1 is 2 inches. They were nice and exchanged them, but something is seriously wrong with this product to have 3 go bad in 3 months! Obviously, we didn't get the same ones again. Hoping for better luck this time!

Not durable

This was a replacement for another Serta mattress that didn't hold up. After less than a year, this one is not much better. I guess you get what you pay for!!!

Deep center sagging after four months!

Highly visible center sagging after only four months use by a 150 lb single sleeper. This mattress needs to be replaced after two years use. Very disappointed in the quality and construction. Purchased a Serta on the basis of mattresses at Hampton Inn hotels.

Not happy

My husband and I bought this mattress two years ago. The edges already buckle down when it wasn't supposed to and it is very hot to sleep. Bad investment for us and was told it would help with my back problem. It has since made it worse.

Upsetting purchase

Spent a lot of time searching for a new bed before deciding on the iComfort mattress. Spent far more money for what I thought would provide a comfortable nights sleep. After a week I have yet to spend an entire night in the bed. The mattress is far firmer than at the store. I typically sleep on my stomach and I am very uncomfortable in this bed. Making matters worse is the terrible odor..As directed we let the bed air out for two nights and then had to go to three days because of the odor, disappointing when you get something new and can't use it Fortunately we had another bed we could use in the meantime. After day 2 we took the mattress outside and aired it out for 3 hours. We fortunately got the bed during September and have had our windows opened and the fan going all week. The odor is still strong but not as much as the first days. I had someone step into our house and ask immediately if we were painting. Our bedroom is at the other end of the house so you can imagine how strong the odor is. Every time I try to lay down in the bed I get a slight headache immediately and the odor is nauseating . My pillow stinks and after reading another review i fear the odor will remain permanently. I want to return this mattress but am stuck with it for 3 more weeks. Sleeping on the couch most of the time now. I would not recommend this bed however as I write this my husband is snoring soundly and doesn't seem to be as put off by the odor as I am.

Thank you for feedback! Keep in mind that the model you tried in the store has been exposed to wear from people testing the mattress over time. Your model hasn't been exposed to normal wear prior to being delivered to your home, so it is normal for it to feel a bit firmer at first. It can take up to 30 days to fully adjust to a new mattress, although most people will find that this happens after several nights of sleep. An odor is normal, but should dissipate after being aired out without any coverings. If the odor continues to bother you after you have taken the necessary steps, we suggest reaching out to your retailer.

Never buy online again!

This bed is like sleeping on a rock. It's not sagging, or breaking down, but there is NO give to it at all! I have constant hip pain, and wake several times a night. My shoulders also tingle, and two of my fingers go numb.
