Really did not plan to buy today.

We've had an 'original' Tempur-Pedic King for 20 years, but finally decided we needed to retire the faithful friend. We stopped by Denver Mattress on a lark about 5 months ago. The salesperson was helpful, but could not make a decision at that time. Prices also seemed quite high. A bit of shell shock vs the $1700 20 years ago.

Again on an urge, we stopped by and the salesperson, Jake, was the same who had waited on us previously. He was again helpful, thorough, and knowledgeable. After re-introductions, I said our basic interest was the "same" feel as the original, or as close as currently produced. Jake lead us to a mattress and we began the exchange. Pillows. Jake willingly brought us each many pillows to see if any improved our comfort. Side sleep. Back sleep. Front sleep. Neck alignment. Each position considered. After pillows, mattress covers. Bases and Platforms. Sheets. Not planning to buy today.

But Jake was patient and we finally walked through the pricing and packages. I listened. Not buying today. The price with bundles and discounts was reasonable, but twice what we spent 20 years ago. What isn't twice as expensive? So we shook hands and left to continue our day and cogitate on the pricing.

While driving, 5 minutes later, I asked my "So why aren't we buying today? Will the price improve? Will we find a better price?" We decided no, and returned to the store. Jake was smiling as he greeted us. "Long time! It's been a while." It was a pleasant interaction. The mattress will be delivered and setup within a week, when I am confident our new Tempur-Pedic will coddle us nicely to sleep.
