OCS 100
The OCS 100 Standard (OCS 100) is a standard for tracking and documenting the purchase, handling, and use of certified organically farmed material (eg, cotton fiber or organic-in-conversion cotton fiber) in yarns, fabrics and finished goods through the use of transaction certificates. OCS 100 applies to all textile goods that contain at least 95% organic material, and is part of the Organic Content Standard (OCS) which replaced the Organic Exchange (OE) Standards in 2014.
OCS testing is done on individual textile components, not on finished products. In practice, the OCS 100 logo means that a specific mattress model contains at least some fiber or fabric that has been certified according to the OCS 100 Standard. OCS certification does NOT account for environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing, nor does it test for the presence of harmful substances or emissions.
The OCS 100 Standard was formerly known as OE 100. It was created by the Textile Exchange (formerly known as the Organic Exchange), a non-profit organization formed in 2002 to promote the responsible expansion of textile sustainability across the global textile value chain.
