OCS
The Organic Content Standard (OCS) uses third-party verification to confirm that a final product contains the accurate amount of a given organically grown material. It does not address the use of chemicals or any social or environmental aspects of production beyond the integrity of the organic material. The OCS uses the chain of custody requirements of the Content Claim Standard (CCS). The OCS replaced the OE Standards (OE 100 and OE Blended) in 2014.
OCS testing is done on individual textile components, not on finished products. In practice, the OCS logo means that a specific mattress model contains at least some fiber or fabric that has been certified according to the OCS Standard. OCS certification does NOT account for environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing, nor does it test for the presence of harmful substances or emissions.
The OCS was created by the Textile Exchange (formerly known as the Organic Exchange), a non-profit organization formed in 2002 to promote the responsible expansion of textile sustainability across the global textile value chain.
