GOLS
The Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) is a standard for sustainable processing methods of latex products from organic raw materials. This mainly addresses the standards which need to be maintained with regards to processing, manufacturing, packing, labeling, trading and distribution of latex products. In addition to the use of organically grown and harvested raw material (i.e., rubber serum), this standard also concentrates on aspects such as human health, safety and welfare, and environment in the manufacturing of latex products.
GOLS certification is awarded to individual latex components, not finished products. In practice, the GOLS logo means that a specific mattress model contains at least some latex material that has been certified according to the GOLS standard for use of organic material as well as environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing.
Peterson Control Union, a globally recognized organic certifier, developed GOLS based on their years of experience certifying organic products in other industries, including foods and textiles.
