The history of Technogel started in 1990 with the Royal Medica establishment. At that time, Bayer Material Science was producing small batches of a special "gel" for use with long-stay hospital patients. Recognizing the potential of this gel material, Royal Medica quickly became a well known producer in the medical and gel industry. Through further research, the original gel material was further improved, and has since been applied to new uses such as office furniture, shoes, and bike seats. In 1998, Technogel was born as a joint-venture between Royal Medica and Otto Bock GmbH.
More recently, the Technogel Sleeping division was founded in order to further the groundbreaking application of Technogel to bedding products. Today, Technogel produces and distributes its own brand of high-end mattresses and pillows all around the world.
