Introduction

Since launching Big Fig, we’ve been amazed with how much demand there’s been for our product. Much of our efforts have been focused on meeting this high demand and further growing our brand. Many other mattress companies claim to provide consumers with “the best sleep ever.” This hyperbolic claim poses a problem: how can a company provide a mattress for “everyone”, if different body types have different needs?

If you are one of the 165 million people in the United States who may identify with the plus size demographic, you might not be sleeping well as a result of your mattress. You probably have experienced common frustrations with your mattress: Sagging, overheating throughout the night, collapsing box spring, shifting of materials, lack of edge support, and so on. The cause is simple: most mattresses were not designed to comfortably support plus size sleepers for longer than 2-3 years. The Big Fig Mattress and Foundation provides the solution.

The team behind Big Fig has been building mattresses for over 90 years, and set out to engineer a mattress from the ground up specifically for the plus size sleeper. They sourced higher quality materials like high density foam, 50% more innerspring coils than most mattresses on the market, perforated foam with ThermoGel cooling technology, and paired it with a wooden foundation that supports 5X the weight of traditional foundations. Then, they rigorously tested it to transparently prove long-lasting quality. The Big Fig was designed and tested to comfortably last 20 years for 1,000 lbs. The Big Fig is truly the first mattress built from the ground up specifically for bigger figures.
