My husband and I agreed on this bed because he prefers a firmer bed and this one did not seem too hard for me. The pillow top at the time of purchase was not too soft and because of the lack of springs, we hoped we would not experience the problems with our previous bed of rolling towards each other in the middle.
At first, the bed was great. I was pregnant and loved it. After having the baby, and the summer coming along, we both found ourselves waking up very sweaty at night. I am sure it is the mattress, because we tried all sorts of "cool" sheets
Fast forward to, oh, only 4 months later. I am a side-sleeper, and my side of the bed had a permanent indention. We rotated the mattress (can't flip it because of the pillow top), but my husband's side also had a slight dip in it, so only a month later I was uncomfortable again. My husband sleeps on his back, so he says it does not bother him as much as it does me. I, however, have back pain because the dip in the bed makes me lean awkwardly. My legs sometimes fall asleep because of the weird angle.
Overall, horrible mattress and Rooms to Go won't replace anything ever.

Hi Jessica,
Rooms to Go never actually sold our Essential Pillowtop mattress, so this review is for a different bed than is listed. As I mentioned to you on Facebook, you either purchased the Nature's Image "Caress" or the "Embrace" -- probably the former since you mentioned a pillowtop.
We're incredibly sorry that you had such a bad experience, especially since it is so a-typical of our Rooms to Go customers overall. We know how difficult it is to put down a lot of money on a mattress and not get the sleep or the longevity of quality that you anticipated. Since your bed did not qualify for replacement from Rooms to Go through our warranty program, and since you stated on Facebook that you're unable to have it sent back to one of our factories for replacement, there's not much we can do.
Our sincerest apologies.
I purchased this mattress less than 6 months ago and it feels like cardboard. Being newly married, first thing on the list was to purchase a new mattress, and we went to test out the models at Sleepy's. We ended up loving the Carolina Radiant Pillowtop, but were reluctant to spend the money on a brand that we had never heard of, but went ahead and got it. Sure enough, got the new bed delivered, and it felt like a totally different bed that what we had tried. 2 weeks in, and there were very noticeable dips where I lay and my husband lays, and I only weigh 100 lbs. I try to sleep in the middle of the bed to make it wear evenly, but literally roll down into my dip. Read online reviews and the manufacturer keeps speaking about the 'settling-in' period, so we tried to stick it out. Now approaching 6 months in we are sleeping in a hard 'W'. Making the bed makes me irate when I have to see the shape of the bed we just purchased- it is even noticeable through the down comforter, duvet and 2 blankets! If the bed needs to break in, why is the floor model in perfect condition? Very angry because we thought we purchased the mattress that suited us best. The garbage product that arrived was absolutely not what we paid for.

Hi Elizabeth -- the person that posted on March 22nd is correct -- you need to contact Sleepy's and have them come look at your mattress to see if you could qualify for an exchange or a warranty claim. This is not normal and should not ever happen.
You asked why showroom beds might feel different than a bed that arrives at your door -- the main reason is because people lay, jump, sit, roll, etc. on them on a daily basis. They are the best way for you to be able to test the mattress, but obviously not a fool-proof way to see what the mattress will be like when it's in your bedroom.
We're so sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience with your Radiant, I hope that Sleepy's can make it right for you. And please also never be content with a mattress (whether it is our or someone else's) that does not feel right to you, or performs in a way that was not what you reasonably expected -- this is why stores offer comfort guarantees and manufacturers offer warranties.
Disastisfied with Carolina Firm Radiant Queen Mattress
After 1 month the bed is sinking in the area that I regularly sleep. Sleepys came and set up the bed frame, box spring and mattress and after just 4 weeks the mattress is already losing firmness and shape and sinking. At 120 lbs. I am not a large or heavy person I am greatly disappointed with the quality and more so with Sleepy's lack of customer support. They have passed my case onto a third party called Mattress Marshals to come and do an inspection. I am still waiting for them to call me to set the appointment and while I wait I continue to have night after night of uncomfortable rest and aches and pains. I would be more satisfied is Sleepys would be willing to replace the mattress and let me try another one in case this is a lemon but so far they continue to hang up on my calls to customer service and make it very difficult to find any resolution to this problem.

We're so sorry to hear about these issues with the Radiant mattresses. Just so everyone knows, the standard for warrantable impression depth on these models is 1.5" -- if they are requesting that they wait til you have a 2" impression, please send an email to info [at] carolinamattressguild [dot] com explaining your situation so that we can help remedy it and get you the support that you need.
After looking at many cheaper models due to budget - finally resolved to investing more and bought the plush on recommendation that I was best suited to a plush (from Sleepys sleep test) - had asked for firm and had great sleep on that type for years.
Got it home and it just didn't feel the same as shop let alone something felt wrong. Like others I kept thinking am I sagging -is it my eyes etc. I turned mattress around toother end and although better still feels like I fall in a hole. I want to love it but after 4 weeks I still wake up achey. I also couldn't se how this would work in practicality if there were 2 people in bed at same time. We would be on top of each other.
Kept salesman up to date days and weeks after purchase conscious of the trial deadline. Although a nice man got very little helpful/supportive support. Kept saying give it more time - the sag will reverse itself over time?..
Also spent more money on new pillows to try and see if that was affecting it. Helped but stil lower back aches.
I want to believe it will get better but I believe something isn't right. Was told that to assess mattress for faulty takes two weeks but options weren't given til outside of trial etc etc.
Going to revisit with sleepy as this was a lot of money for me and I can't imagine sleeping like this for next 5 years.
Any advice welcome.

Hi Toni,
I'm so sorry to hear that you're having issues with your new Radiant Plush. Certainly go back to Sleepy's and address your concerns with them -- this is not typical of our mattresses and Sleepy's is trained to handle warranty issues related to unnatural dips or sags. As your salesman told you, it does take time to "break a mattress in" and get it to the comfort level that you might have felt on showroom models at the store. It is also necessary to rotate your mattress every 2-4 weeks the first few months that you own it to insure even wear.
The other issue that jumps out to me is that you have always slept on a firm mattress, and switching to a plush after years of the same can be very jarring for your body. Though we love Sleepy's, a diagnostic test can only tell you so much and should simply guide you in a direction, your body needs to affirm the test's output.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help -- we understand that a mattress is a big investment and we'd hate to think that a Warranty issue kept you from the sleep that you deserve.
I first bought a CMG Radiant Plush at Sleepy's after I took their sleep diagnostic and was told I should have an EXTRA plush mattress. I was skeptical, but went with their assessment and bought the CMG Plush as it felt luxurious in the store. It took me a month and a half or so after purchase, to realize that my previously poor sleep got worse and now on top of that, I was waking up with aches and pains that I never had before! I asked CMG if I could exchange the plush for a firm and they supported me through the process of doing so with Sleepy's. (Note: I was slightly out of Sleepy's free comfort exchange time frame) With CMG's help, I had Sleepy's deliver my new firm mattress the very next morning and have been loving it ever since!
Not only is this mattress comfortable and making my body feel good, it's eco-friendly (made from bamboo, which is a sustainable source and very breathable) and crafted in the USA which makes me happy.
In conclusion, I highly recommend Carolina Mattress Guild as a company, and I love my new firm mattress. AND ALSO, if you take the Sleepy's sleep diagnostic test, take the results with a grain of salt and go with what you know!

Amazing bed. I always get a great night's sleep and I miss it when I'm away from home. We moved it from the US to London we love it so much. I would definitely buy another one.

I also posted this comment under another review but I thought I would post on the main review page so others will see it. I love this mattress! I sent back my new Tempurpedic Cloud mattress after the 30 day comfort guarantee period. What a horrible 30 days that was! I hated that stinky, hard mattress. I would never purchase another memory foam. I can't tell you here how much that mattress stinks! I also don't like the "fall into the hole" feel where there is no give or bounce. Once you sink into the memory foam, you hit this really hard plateau and my husband and I both had aches where we had never had them before! This latex mattress provides just the right balance between memory foam on the surface and a bouncier feel. It has great firm-ish support and has given me relief from sciatic pain (I've had degenerative disks since my early 20's). I guess there is a right mattress for everyone but I think this is a great middle road between coils and memory foam - plus is it was way cheaper than the Tempur. Now, I can't speak to its longevity yet but I love, love, love, it. I hope it lasts forever!

Thank you so much for posting your review as it's own piece! We love to hear stories about great experiences like yours and we're so happy that you're pleased with your Caress! Welcome to the CMG family!
Just like most other reviewers, I was extremely disappointed when I got the mattress home, and found out it wasn't as nearly as plush and comfortable as the store model in the showroom. I guess CMG produces a special, high quality showroom mattress to "trick" buyers into falling in love with their mattress in the store like I did. I even went back to the store the next day to make sure they gave me the right model. Unfortunately they did. I'm going to return this mattress before I notice any sagging or defects that other reviewers have noticed, and switch to a name brand (Simmons, Stearns & Foster, Sealy) mattress.
I was going to wait for the apparent "break in" period they say mattresses have (whether that's true or not IDK), but it appears this mattress stays firmer than what you expected to buy.

Hi Mike--
Our showroom models are no different than the beds that we produce for customers -- they go down the same line through the same people and processes and are treated exactly the same. You will find with any mattress brand that the showroom model often feels different than the new bed that you will receive. Many many MANY people have sat, laid, rolled, etc on the floor models, and waiting through the break in period will help your mattress adjust to your body and give it time to become more like the showroom bed that you tried out and loved. We're sorry that you had a less than stellar experience, and we hope that you'll rethink your decision and give your Radiant the time it needs to break in!
No Durability: Carolina Mattress Guild Caress King Mattress
The mattress delivered to our home never really measured up to the comfort of the one we "tested" in Rooms To Go. From Day #1 (3yrs ago) it was much firmer than the store model. Soon there after the both my wife's and my side of the bed started to sag. We lived with this for the past 2 yrs. I didn't really realize how much this mattress was causing my body soreness until I slept on our old queen in the spare bedroom. We are not heavy people (130 and 175lbs). Heading out to buy a new mattress and it WON'T BE from Carolina Mattress Guild.

Your situation is *not* typical in the least -- have you contacted Rooms to Go about your problem? I purchased my carress matress at RTG 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, they did not have this particular model in store so I was very nervous when I purchased this. The person helping me did not know a lot about the mattress and was feeding me a line so I went home and researched. I was afraid of all the negative feedback I was reading but decided to give it a try. I'm hoping it does soften up a little but over all it's comfortable. I like the more plush fall into a cloud feel but my back can't take it. I would reccomend this mattress and hoping to break it in a little more to get it just right! I've had many problems with mattresses sagging (3 to be exact over the last 6 yrs) so I'm really hoping this one doesn't. I wish there were more reviews available for people who have owned theirs for a while so I can see how much it will settle and so forth. Overall, I'm hoping this was a great purchase!!

Hi Tara,
We're so happy to hear that you're positive about the purchase of your Caress! Hopefully it turns out to be a great one for you. We completely understand your guarded optimism, it must be hard to put your trust in a bedding company after the experiences that you've had. Remember, if your bed does start to sag or display any sort of manufacturer's defect that you're uncomfortable with, go back to Rooms to Go. They will send a representative out to look at your mattress and if it is a true defect, they will take care of replacing it for you at no cost to you. We don't think you'll have that problem, though! Enjoy your new mattress!
