Love the bed

My wife and I have had the '.2' queen for about 60 days and love it and don't find it too firm. After the first week we briefly discussed switching to the '.3', but after another week we concluded the '.2' is perfect – just the right amount of soft and support. We are around 60 - she is about 175 lb and I am 190 lb. My wife is a combo back/side sleeper and I am a combo stomach/side sleeper. Before this bed we've always slept on traditional spring mattresses on the firm side.

Perfect for larger frames

Just got my Purple 4 yesterday. Slept on it last nite. I know I will need to give it time to really test it out. So far first impression from a 220+ person. The 4 is VERY soft. So much I thought there was no way it could support a large person. I stood corrected. You feel like you sink down a bit. I'm an avid side sleeper, rarely sleep on my back ever. I felt cradled last nite, no pressure on my hips and shoulder. I did find it a bit of a struggle to turn on the other side, more then what I seen watching videos on the Purple 4, but these were very trim ppl. I have to say I slept pretty darn good. Woke up with no pains at all. It really is the most comfortable bed I ever slept on. My dogs slept good as well. My male black lab was hogging my side of the bed and didn't move all nite. Every time I turned over there he was in the same position till the morning, and I had to wake him up. I also bought the platform base, mattress pad and sheets. I normally sleep very hot, but even with a new Korean mink blanket I woke up cool. My comparison is coming from recently having the Tempur Pedic Adapt Medium Hybrid. I did not care for it. Every time I sat on that bed I felt the coils at the bottom, and if I turned hard I felt the coils. Not with the purple, a solid thick mattress. You can jump on the bed and feel no bottom. Unbelievable coolness. I'll update as the months go by for a comparison.

The cable company of mattresses

Do not buy anything from Purple. The mattress is not comfortable for starters. It also weighs 200 pounds so moving it by yourself is impossible. But it is the company itself that is truly horrible. They could be rude, dismissive, and incompetent. They made returning the mattress very difficult compared to other companies we have used, and they charged me for the free pillow that was included in the purchase when I returned the mattress. Do yourself a favor and avoid Purple.

I have owned the purple mattress for a little over a year. It is permanently swayed, both on my side (210 lbs.) and my wife's side (110 lbs.). There are limited options for rotating this mattress, so there's no way to even it out. We also purchased the purple bed frame, which is quite possibly the squeakiest bed base I have ever been exposed to. Very traumatizing to the children if we're not careful...

An interesting mattress, but not for me.

This mattress feels wonderful to sit on lie on, go to sleep on, but after a few hours I have woken up with low back pain and been unable to find a comfortable position to get back to sleep. The material from which it is made warms and sinks down everywhere for a person who is low weight like I am. It does relieve pressure points in my shoulder and hips if I have a thin mattress pad and stretchy sheets. With a thicker pad, which I put one to try to relieve back pain, my shoulder and arm become numb.

Avoid the Purple Mattress - Causes Back Pains

Horrible mattress...my wife and I have been sleeping on this mattress for over 6 months and we have had nothing but trouble with hip and back pains. It's a crap mattress. It was hard as a rock at first then became saggy. Don't listen to all the hipe and paid positive reviews...this mattress is junk!

Beware if you buy this bed!!

I was super disappointed after all the hype that I didn't like this mattress. It was harder than expected and the gel layer was super uncomfortable. Then I tried to return it and expected this to be easy as the company advertises...NOT true! They say they will have someone pick it up for you if you return it. Well, they tell me that they can't find anyone in my area to pick it up so I have to do all the leg work to find a place to donate it. AND the catch is that I have to have a donation receipt signed by a place who will take it or I can't get my money back. This is NOT what they claim when you buy it. BEWARE if you buy Purple products because they are not true to their word!!

Do NOT buy this because of the hype!

Don't care if the egg survived - my back/hips are not an egg and this mattress does not live up to the hype. The "purple" grid is too thick to provide ANY type of support and is as hard as a rock :-(

Feelt like I got hit by a truck, warranty walk around

I purchased the mattress and it arrives on May 8th of this year. I was in incredible pain for the first month using the mattress. It is recommended to try sleeping on the mattress for a few weeks before really forming your opinion of it, since memory foam is something your body needs to adjust to. After the first month the pain had subsided somewhat, but twice a week I would wake up feeling like I got hit by a truck. Around two and a half months, very close to the trial expiration, and having talked to my partner, we decided to go the path of returning the mattress. The return went hellish, you have to donate the mattress, not a big deal, unless no donation centers accept used mattresses, due to bed bug problems. Next option I tried was a recycling center, they would not accept the mattress either. After I could not personally find and organizations to donate to, they tried to find one. Well, that was zero help, and they were not able to find one either. They provide me with my last option, donate it to the needy someone on hard times or maybe a local policing, or fire precinct. My decision was to find someone that was in need, which took a hot second. I had emailed them a good bit in the beginning of figuring out the situation, then once I was searching for a party to donate to I had lost contact for about twenty days. Today I reached out to them to make sure that I was still within the return period. They put me on hold for about ten minutes and get back to me saying that I was out of the period. Now, about the return period, I asked how long ago did the trial end. They said twenty-six days ago. Then I proceeded to ask when my last date of contact with them was, it was twenty days ago. They were going to let me donate an, after taxes, almost $1,200 mattress, for free and never refund my money. Would not recommend buying this mattress. If you are not happy you have to do too much stuff to get rid of it, and they are nearly helpless in the situation.

Ice Box Fever! (terrible mattress)

I expected the bed to be warm and cozy. It was freezing and made my back hurt. It was freezing every night. I had to place TWO heavy quilts over me to keep warm. And even then I never was as warm as I was with a light sheet ontop of me laying on my old Mattress. Being so cold with this purple bed is the Primary reason I rated it low and its the main reason I am getting a refund on the purple bed. I bought these soft stretchy sheets as recommended by purple, and I still had back pain almost every night. I DONT GET BACK PAIN. I got the purple bed because my old mattress has springs that you can now feel if you press your hand down on to the mattress top. So after more than a month I have lost health because I am sleeping less because it hurts to sleep in the purple bed and its freezing so I am waking up to move around to generate some heat thru the night. Raising my room temp from 66 to 68 did not help how cold the mattress feels while laying on it. Oh yeah, for the first THREE nights I could not sleep on the purple bed. Why? Because it stinks so bad after you unwrap it. I had to put it on the floor and let it air out for three days while I put my old mattress back on my foundation. And I kept a fan on it blowing away from me. I tried to sleep on it the first night but the smell made me sick. Tingly and nauseous. Did I mention it weighs 110lbs or more...ya, I had to call my buddy over to get it back on the foundation. Lastly, I had to wait 3.5 weeks to get the purple bed manufactured on call and then delivered. Yes, they make these beds to order. They told me I'd wait a max of two weeks to ship but nope, waited 10 more days total 25 days from order I recieved the bed. Ordering the Brooklyn now...I'll keep you guys posted.
