Only Good for 5 Years
Paid almost $3500 for mattress, foundation and delivery in May 2005. Already had a 3-bed beam support system with 6 legs. Mattress felt great and provided excellent support for first five years or so. Rotated, not flipped (you can't), mattress every 12 months or so. Started to notice soft spots where my wife and I typically laid in 2010. By soft spots I mean areas where the foam was soft and not as supportive as the rest of the mattress. If one of us slept in the middle of the mattress, it was great. However, that is not a practical solution for a married couple. So my wife called Tempur-Pedic and told them about the problem. They told her that they would warranty the mattress if she sent them photos showing "a visible indentation greater than .75 of an inch." In other words, if we could lay a long, straight pole across the top of the mattress and there were easily visible gaps the size of a quarter where we usually lay, they would warranty the mattress. Given that the Celebrity mattress has a pillow top and the nature of our complaint was a softening of the foam, not a depression in the foam, this was impossible to show. Thus, no warranty claim and no new mattress. I do not know about you, but the burden of proof they require seems impossible to meet rendering the warranty less than worthless. Waited two years as my wife's back and neck problems got worse and I tried Tempur-Pedic again. Still no luck. Same impossible burden of proof. A good night's sleep should not cost $700 a year. Tempur-Pedic needs to either change their warranty or lower their prices significantly. Until they do, I will never buy another of their products and will continue to steer everyone who will listen away from their products. This review is for Tempur-Pedic CelebrityBed (2008)
