Returning a Bed for Credit

We order the Rapsady Breeze at the recommendation of the Temperpedic Sales Rep, he said it was the best for people with back issues and cooler than the other beds. It was hard as a rock, when I called tempurpedic they said to walk on it, knee it and then put an electric blanket on the mattress and heat it 1/2 hour before going to bed, I should not have to date my bed and get it ready for sleeping. Anyway, as my husband described it, it was like when he was a small boy and would lay on the hot sidewalk. It was so hard my husband had sholder issues and my hips would hurt. When I wanted to try a softer bed Tempurpedic said if I tried a different bed it would be a final sale, so I returned the Rapsady, it has now been two months and 6 phone calls and we still do not have our money back in our account!! Very difficult to deal with if you are returning a mattress, it took over a month for them to pick it up and then another 2 months and we still do not have our $4800 back. We ended up purchasing the Westen bed with memory foam and cooling get and it is like heaven.

Sleeping on Cloud Nine

We purchased our Temper-Pedic one week ago and I am absolutely loving it. I was expecting an adjustment period because that is what you would expect but the first night was wonderful, I felt like I was sleeping on clouds. I woke up with no back and shoulder pains I felt refreshed. Now I just look forward to the end of my day when I can get into bed. And with the adjustable base I can watch television or work on my laptop and still be in a comfortable position.

Not for me

When we bought this bed, it seemed fine in the store, but the clerk didn't bother to ask if we were stomach sleepers. This type of mattress will give you lower back pain if you are. We even gave it 2+months. We went back to a standard coil bed and pain disappeared in two nights. For a bed with this price, that is unacceptable.

Only Good for 5 Years

Paid almost $3500 for mattress, foundation and delivery in May 2005. Already had a 3-bed beam support system with 6 legs. Mattress felt great and provided excellent support for first five years or so. Rotated, not flipped (you can't), mattress every 12 months or so. Started to notice soft spots where my wife and I typically laid in 2010. By soft spots I mean areas where the foam was soft and not as supportive as the rest of the mattress. If one of us slept in the middle of the mattress, it was great. However, that is not a practical solution for a married couple. So my wife called Tempur-Pedic and told them about the problem. They told her that they would warranty the mattress if she sent them photos showing "a visible indentation greater than .75 of an inch." In other words, if we could lay a long, straight pole across the top of the mattress and there were easily visible gaps the size of a quarter where we usually lay, they would warranty the mattress. Given that the Celebrity mattress has a pillow top and the nature of our complaint was a softening of the foam, not a depression in the foam, this was impossible to show. Thus, no warranty claim and no new mattress. I do not know about you, but the burden of proof they require seems impossible to meet rendering the warranty less than worthless. Waited two years as my wife's back and neck problems got worse and I tried Tempur-Pedic again. Still no luck. Same impossible burden of proof. A good night's sleep should not cost $700 a year. Tempur-Pedic needs to either change their warranty or lower their prices significantly. Until they do, I will never buy another of their products and will continue to steer everyone who will listen away from their products.

Tempur Pedic worth the $

I was leary to spend 3K on a mattress, but after my coil spring purchase last year that developed a sink spot where I laid, I decided I was going to add the additional money to get the Tempur-Pedic. The first couple weeks was akward, the bed was not as soft in the store, it smelt kind odd, and I was worried that I wouldn't like my 3K dollar investement. Within 4 weeks (just like they said) the bed had turned into the most fantasic mattress, fully soft in every way, while supporting every square inch of your body. I began to awake in the morning and literally asking myself why isn't my back hurting? I was so used to having upper shoulder/back pain my entire life and it isn't there anymore. It also confused me at times when I would go to sleep on my back and the next morning awaken in the same position! -I am not a back sleeper traditionally- Now that I have had this mattress for 4 months, I can't imagine ever having to go back to a coil/spring mattress.

Back getting better. Not hot

Purchased the Allura bed 3 weeks ago. The bed isn't hot at all. I did buy the protect a bed "luxury" mattress protector and dream fit 5 degrees bamboo sheets. They are suppose to help you sleep cooler. Some mattress protectors and sheets can trap heat and not breathe and change the feel of the bed. Am a side sleeper. Love my new bed. Have herniated L4/L5 disc. Back is getting better. So far am very happy with my purchase. Was considering the Cloud lux but felt the Allura gave me better pressure relieving support. The initial feel of the Cloud lux was better but the longer I laid on it the more my lower back started to ache. The opposite would happen after laying on the Allura for an extended period of time. The initial smell wasn't that bad and didn't bother me much. Look forward to going to bed and waking up with less back stiffness and pain. Great investment in my health.

HOT and SORE

When you first lay down the mattress appears to be comfortable; however, I was sold a mattress that was just too soft. Yes, it forms around you, but then it is like pulling yourself out of a hole just to move. Plus, it did not disperse your body heat. VERY HOT! Ended up sleeping on the guest bed in the middle of the night (Spring mattress). WG and R Furniture sales people were very nice in trying to help us choose a mattress for those with sore necks, backs, etc... however their advice was toward softer mattresses. In case of my condition, this makes it worse not better. They let me exchange it for another brand-- but once again was sold too soft a mattress. I guess that is my fault. These premium mattresses are not worth it! Stick to a good quality set for around $1000 instead of $4000. I made a BIG MISTAKE.

Was sleepless in San Diego

When you first get your bed, definitely walk on it for a few minutes for about three days.  This will help break it in and also release the "gas".  The first day,we made sure that we had the overhead fan going, whole house fan going (to clear out the room of any smell) and opened a window.  That first night we notice a very very faint smell, but nothing that would have kept us awake. I kept the fans on for the 2nd night also, by the third night we didn't run the fans during the day. The mattress was a little firm, but I made sure I would walk on it for the next two days, which helped a lot. By the 4th or 5th day, the mattress was completely comfortable and I was waking up in the morning with hardly any noticable back pain.  My back pain was 90% better then it was sleeping on the Sleep Number bed which we had for 13 yrs. with various toppers. Before we got this bed I actually did NOT want to go to bed because I knew I would wake up in the morning with lots of back pain and many nights not even able to get to sleep because I was so uncomfortable.  Now I can't wait to climb into bed, what a change.

Research before you buy

Bought king bed about 6wks ago and still it is uncomfortable. I'm unable to sleep in this bed and now sleep in my son's full size regular innerspirng bed. Research this product before you buy and remember many people have layed on the ones in the store so they are pretty much broke in and feel great. But I think taking 6wks to break in a bed is a little much. To me it should feel great the first wk you sleep in your new bed. In addition, to get the softer model it was going to cost and additional $700 plus the delivery fee of the new bed
