Steer clear of Englander

Absolute garbage -- buy something else. I purchased a Lady Englander Emerald Firm in January of 2012. The fact that this particular mattress is manufactured with recycled materials and organic latex and bamboo appealed to me. The bed never felt like the one in the showroom, so I went back to the retailer three times and was told it needs to "break in". Well, it did "break in" and things have gone from bad to worse. My back and hip hurt so much that I toss and turn all night long. I have been completely exhausted, since purchasing this pile of crap, and have recently resorted to sleeping on my AeroBed. The fact that a $200 air mattress is more comfortable than a $950 inner spring mattress says a lot. Do yourself a favor and buy something else.

Pros:

Update on my review: My mattress seems to have "broken in" and it is now much more comfortable. I actually sleep a solid 7 - 8 hours every night and awaken each morning feeling refreshed. It's like the mattress gods have finally bestowed the gift of good sleep upon me. My only thought is that the coils in this mattress are so strong that it takes a very long time for them to break in. Perhaps the mattress gods have bestowed the gift of mattress longevity upon me, as well?!

Hi Loretta, that's great to hear! Would be great help to other mattress shoppers if you could update the actual review and the star ratings. Just click the link to "Update this review" at the bottom of your Account page: http://www.goodbed.com/account/view-profile/.

I'm not sure if I was duped into buying this mattrese or not.The mattrese has a label ' american 4oo firm' no where is printed 'Englander' on the mattrese except on the display one in the showroom. Also the only warrentty is the receipt, nothing else ! I've had the bed about 2 months, not sure if I like it. Take Care Jean of Delray Beach, Fl.

I totally agree that this mattress sucks !! I have had mine now two years and for the last year I have had problems sleeping - back and hip pain - literally feel like the bed is eating me (digging myself out of a hole constantly) tossing and turning. At first I thought it was me, but when my boyfriend 10 years younger starting saying the same thing (before I ever even mentioned it to him) -- I felt as though he was echoing my words exactly. It was a relieve actually to know that it's not me (sleep apnea, etc). I will not try to get a replacement as I have read the nightmares on dealing with this company. I am going to start looking for a new mattress and throw this thing to the street and NOT lose a night's sleep over it !!!!!!!! Any mattress suggestions ??

I agree with the other reviews. I am in the process of purchasing a new mattress again after spending around $1500 on a mattress (New Englander ) California King. The mattress is not leveled and sinks down making your neck back and hips in deep pain. I contacted the Company in Stockton and they informed me that I would have to have the bed tested to see if it is having any problems. In order to have them test the level of sinking in I would have to bring it to the company in stockton calif. They will give you the run arounds when you call and no one will help you after they get your money. I advise you not to purchase this mattress. I believe it is filled with lots of junk! And you will not get a good night sleep.

We paid $1400.00 for the Englander sensations and you are right it sags on the right and left and is very hard in the middle, absolutely uncomfortable. going to warranty is an absolute joke

My Englander mattress sags badly. This is a replacement for the first one, which also sagged. Never again! Both mattresses began to sag shortly after I purchased them. I am on various sites trying to find a reliable brand so I don't waste any more money or sleepless nights.
