How this Company Ripped Me Off!

We bought a King Size Serta Trump Mattress and within 14 months it had an inch and three quarter  body impression! My husband and I are neither obese people. We did not qualify under the warranty for a replacement mattress because of the fact that I cut off  all the excess tags on the boxspring; they were a nuisance to look at. What a mistake that was!  So I will not be dealing with this corrupt company ever again! I thought a receipt was all you needed!

It's a shame that ones ignorance can lay blame on a company that has been in existence for 80 years and has built a fine reputation that's made them the #1 mattress company in the industry. Silly how it plainly states not to remove the law tag on the law tag. The warranty procedure is no different than that of an automobile, refrigerator, washer or dryer. Furthermore the product does come with a warranty card that plainly describes the parameters of the warranty. Don't disparage a company because you weren't intelligent enough to read the warranty card.

Hi Desiree, we apologize for the tone used by the previous commenter. To provide some clarification, we'd like to explain that there is actually a good reason that the law tags are needed to honor your warranty, which is that in many cases they are critical to knowing what the exact terms of your warranty actually are. You can see in the "Law Tag" section of the Serta warranty (http://www.serta.com/files/2012-Serta-SWC004.pdf) that the "warranty code" is located on the law tag. This is important because it is the warranty code that tells the manufacturer which warranty this mattress actually has. Even more importantly, the law tag is what indicates whether this model was a floor sample, which are sold "as-is" and thus not covered under warranty at all. To draw an analogy, it's kind of like if you lose your ticket in a parking garage. In that case, the garage policy is usually to assume you've been there a long time. This may seem harsh to someone that lost their ticket and really was parked there only briefly, but having this policy is important to protect the garage from less honest customers that might otherwise be tempted to exploit such a loophole. All that being said, we completely agree with you that it is not self-evident that keeping these tags is critical to the validity of your warranty. Law tags on things like mattresses and pillows have long been a staple of stand-up comedy in our society (From a real comedian's bio: "Jess learned improvisational comedy at the Morris County Correctional Facility where she served a 3-year sentence for cutting off a 'do not remove under penalty of law' mattress tag..."). As such, it is obvious to most consumers today that they are not really breaking the law by removing these. But unfortunately, it is not nearly so clear why they might actually care to keep them. In the future, we hope we can play a role in eliminating some of the confusion consumers face around mattress warranties.

I sell serta and it is not a corrupt company you should not have cut the tags off.
