The Prodigy mattress is pathetic! I weigh 260 pounds and in 5 weeks my Prodigy Queen turned into mush! In the store and for the first week it was wonderful. My back loved it! I changed sides every 2-3 days to equalize wear but it still turned into mush in 5 weeks. This bed now sleeps like a hammock. If I sit on the edge of the bed it collapses to 1/3 of the normal thickness. How's that for support? Getting out of bed in the morning is a chore. It's like crawling out of a hole! DO NOT BUY THE ICOMFORT PRODIGY IF YOU WEIGH OVER 100-125 POUNDS! My dealer is going to replace it with the Genius (firmest icomfort they make) under the 120 day replacement plan. Serta is being cute and is going to allow me the sale price on the Prodigy and charge me full retail on the Genius, effectively picking my pocket for $225. So much for the the 120 day replacement plan! Apparently all memory foam mattresses soften with use so it is wise to buy firmer than you think is necessary. Date Purchased: 11/2011 Price Paid: $2274 Recommend: No

This word-for-word review is all over the Internet, on at least a dozen sites. Google "iComfort prodigy +mush +260" Sure, things get copied on the Internet, but not on review sites -- that takes a specific effort (register for posting, etc). This guy is on a crusade. They say you should throw out the best and the worst reviews -- this one is a throwaway...
Official Response
Hello - we at Serta are sorry to hear about the problem you experienced, but we are glad to hear that you are able to switch to a firmer model. We'd welcome the chance to speak directly with you to see if, perhaps, the specific model was too soft for you and to understand your shopping experience versus your in-home experience with the Prodigy. If you'd like to discuss this further with our customer service staff, please email us (https://www.serta.com/contact/) and we'll be happy to help.
"Anonymous". My name, my $2300 and my review are out there for everyone to see and ask questions. All are factual. Why are you being a coward and hiding behind "Anonymous". You sell these mattresses?
Roger, glad you posted this, I bought the same mattress, Im 270lbs, the exact same mush problem happened to me, everything on your post is exactly the same, the first two weeks were great, then I went out of town for 3 months, just my wife slept on the bed, shes 145lbs, I couldn't wait to get back home to sleep on my new comfy bed, what the? We both rolled into to the center of the bed, like laying in a hammock lol, she would have to push my back to help me crawl out of the hole we were in we got another brand I had to pay a $125.00 fee, even the delivery guys said they have changed out a few of these mattresses, the complaint? people were slowly getting swallowed up in the mattress after a several weeks. Thanks Daniel. Fortunately for me, my dealer, (Brooks Furniture) stood behind this foam disaster and got me a Serta Perfect Day with Smart Comfort and I love it. Unfortunately, they don't make it any more (apparently it cost too much to manufacture) but I squeaked in under the wire and got one. It has two sets of coils and a honeycomb Smart Comfort pillowtop. I have a hard time lifting it to change sheets but God it is comfortable and supportive. Who said the squeaky wheel doesn't get the grease? Sorry for the re-post but I wasn't signed in so my name didn't show up on the previous post.
I wish to thank the folks that are complaining about this mattress line. You are doing me a service and I regret your difficulties, but thank you. As far as the the negative(-) rating on helpfulness, I'd guess that this is the result of company agents or sales persons dicking around with the ratings to throw potential customers off the track. So disgustingly corporate greediness. I'm keeping clear of any Serta product as a result.
We would like to briefly address the recent comment from "Anonymous" relating to the helpfulness rating of this review. GoodBed is a completely independent review site that is closely moderated for the benefit of its users, and we see no indication that the helpfulness rating of this review has been falsely manipulated. Like you, we sincerely appreciate Roger sharing his experience here with other mattress shoppers. We also believe that Serta deserves some credit here for not only listening to Roger's experience, but even responding to him directly. We were especially pleased to see that with cooperation from his local Serta retailer, Roger was able to find another Serta product with which he is very happy -- hooray for all! With any business, there are inevitably going to be some portion of customers that are disappointed with their experience. So, as you are deciding which company's product to buy, we believe it is worth considering whether and how a company responds in those cases where things don't go as expected.
i have had the prodigy for 1 week now.. when it came it was hard as a rock..but now its better ive been having a love hate thing with it...i started to think to was to hard and was waking up with back pain...talked to a friend of mine who does sports massage he said my body needs to adjust cause i came from a crappy mattress....i was thinking to take this mattress back i have 100 days with it...but today i woke up with no pain so im going to give it a chance..the revolution freaks me out its feels good in the store but in my mind what about 5yrs down the road so i picked the one that was not to soft or hard...well see if it can last..the bed i had before was a a england it lasted 1yr before that i had a serta that lasted 10yrs..so went back for serta brand...i do think there should be better standards on the mattress makers...
I purchased the Revolution for my daughter. When she was in the store she had asked if there was a firmer model. He told her no. We purchased the Revolution because of the cooling factor. Pd. $1999. She has had this bed for 2 mo. now and is tossing and turning every night. The store said they would exchange it. So, she went to another store and saw the Genius which was firmer and she felt had more support . The store said they are not sure they can get the genius since they don't sell it. They also said they would not refund any money since the Genius is cheaper. To me if Serta is giving a 120 day trial it should be just that. Why should I have to take a loss for a bed that was way to soft and you sink down into it? Also, the salesman should have mentioned that there was a firmer model but they didn't carry it. I feel this 120 day trial you should be able to get a refund if you purchase a bed that is less than what you pd. for. The salesmen should know exactly what happens when selling their beds.
I HATE MY PRODIGY SERTA MATTRESS!!! WARRANTY IS A JOKE!!!! DO NOT BUY!!!! You see reviews on the Serta Prodigy for the first year, which for me, was great too. Even heavenly. 18 months in, I noticed saging, like a hammock or bathtub. Added a few more support beams (had already the required"5"). Warranty stated it needed to "sag" (without laying on it) up to 3/4"(they changed it from 1.5) without having to lay on it which is a scambecasue of the type of materials that may be "bouncing back" but has deteriated in 18 months to moosh!!! Having a bad back (And a little over 200 pounds), If I can't get warranty, I will sleep on ground and make it my mission to tell everyone, including the BBB of this scam. Never in my 48 years have a had an issue like this with a mattress.
