The BEST Luxury Mattress At Any Price

I can't say I'm an expert with regard to mattresses. When I left a 35 year career as Creative Director for a major Advertising Agency my timing was perfect - the economy collapsed. I took a job with a major mattress chain both selling and creating campaigns to promote certain models. During this period I visited a number of mattress manufacturers and was amazed that the same mattress meant to sell at a retail point of let's say $2,000 would by a simple change of label and damask become a mattress set for an optimum price point of $800. This of course is why it's impossible for the consumer to comparison shop. If you find a mattress you like called "The Cloud" the store you're in is the only store that carries that mattress with that name. Right down the street that very same mattress may be selling for as much as 50% more or less - the selling of mattresses is unfortunately a shady business and the consumer suffers from it. There are a few specialty sleep systems that don't get involved in this - however they are few and far between. Not to mention often not the best choice for many consumers. I'll caveat the following by saying I am a research fanatic. It's in my blood and it drives most friends and family crazy - I am unrelenting and I go over board. That said when my better half and I realized that neither of us were getting a decent nights sleep - except for our two Old English Bulldogs who could doze off on a bed of nails. I was handed my orders to find a mattress and the search began. During a web search I found the Saatva site and book marked it along with the dozen others I had saved. When I finally read through the web site I was struck by two things. 1) The site is brimming with valuable information. There is virtually no what we call in advertising "fluff" or "weasel words" it's the best education about mattresses you'll find. 2) Claims by Saatva are backed up with facts - spec by spec. In fact there is a comparison chart between the Saatva mattress and other high end mattresses. As an example one apple to apple comparison of the Saatva at $899 actually surpasses an equivalent Kings Down Mattress which sells for $3400 Then my phone calls to Saatva began. I drove them crazy I'm sure this is why Saatva has taken out a restraining order against me. What I found time and time again is that each person I spoke with knew the product inside and out. If I had questions about the coil system, the foam densities, the gauge of the springs they were answered - the few times there was a question that couldn't be answered well, because no normal person would ask these questions - but that's not me. I would be transferred to someone who could. Never - ever was I pressured to buy. There is no "one time deal if you buy today" business model. Saatva means "Truth" and that's exactly what you get. Now about the mattress! We purchased the King Size Luxury Firm it was delivered with lightning speed and the plastic wrapping is beyond protective - it's closer to a Hazmat suit. When the mattress was placed in our bed frame - my spouse and I were both struck by how absolutely gorgeous it is. Quality touches abound. From the iron clad strong handles, to the intricate braiding on the sides. The deep tufted upholstered buttons make for an elegant and incredibly comfortable surface. The Damask is pure 100% natural cotton ( I must have forgotten this). But I know the cotton ensures the mattress breathes. As far as support and comfort the Saatva mattress is brilliant. We haven't slept this well, this deeply and woken feeling this good in years, and that's a fact. If you're still reading this novel and aren't comatose by this time, I applaud you. I promise to wrap this up in a minimum of 300 more pages. The common thread between everyone at Saatva is passion. Saatva promises silver but you deliver gold and few mattress sellers, if any can make that claim. There is no single piece of furniture in the world that has such a profound effect on our health and well being - Our Saatva is the best investment we have made in years. Now you'll have to excuse me - I'm off to slide back into our Saatva and take a nap. Peter Suslock

I am pleased to hear all the positives about purchasing from Saatva. But what I'd really like to hear is from someone who has owned one for a year or so. Does it begin to sag or get soft like so many other reviews of foam mattresses? This is a long term purchase, not just something for 90 days. I will check back.

I just bought the saatva mattress and I was very skeptical about buying online .I could not find a single complaint about the mattress . first I bought the luxury firm but that was too soft for my back but it felt absolutely wonderful .then I called them for the extra firm and within 2 days it was here no more aches when I get up in the morning .I wish I had known about this company years ago .

love your comments Peter :) We just got our queen size luxury firm yesterday...and WOW...it is beautiful I have to say! everything that you said and then some! We had brought a new pine bed frame last week...the Saatva came yesterday...and oh my goodness it looks amazing! After we were finally done with work we had to lay on the bed...we just were amazed how it felt! We love, love, love this mattress!!! :) I agree with you 100% plus on this mattress Peter :)

I am almost ready to buy a Saatva, but I have a few questions. One question is the same as the another person's question that was not answered here, ". Is there anyone that has had the mattress for one year or more? If so, are you still totally happy with the mattress?" Secondly, I cannot decide whether to get the Luxury Firm, or Firm. We have been on a temperpedic but it just gets me extremely hot. It has held up well, so I am giving it to my daughter. I need a mattress that does NOT retain heat..Will this mattress serve our purposes and after being on a Temperpedic, will I be happy with the Luxury firm?

Where can you go to try out this mattress

Do you have to purchase the foundation if you are using an ikea bed slats?

Heck, any new mattress selling for at least $1000 will have good to great reviews for 90 days. What odes this investment mean three years (yes three) down the line? We are currently sleeping on a 6 year old mattress that has a crater in the middle. Its cost -- $2000 (queen). It just sickens us.

It's hard to believe we've had our Saatva for three years, it's even harder to believe it's 2015 they weren't kidding when they say time fly's and the older I get the faster it fly's. Lot's of people have asked me questions about the longevity of the mattress it's an understandable concern and one that I thought about pre purchase. I'll caveat my response to this issue by saying they're still a relatively new company so unless your accomplished with a crystal ball and can see into the future - what I suggest and what is exactly what I did is go to the site and go through the build specifications one by one in comparison to makes of the same specifications. I did my homework up front but the real clincher was I liked that these guys are mavericks in an industry that's notorious for low brow, high pressure sales tactics and when you strip away all the meaningless "fluff words" most people have no clue what they're actually buying. As for our Mattress my Spouse and I along with our two huge Old English Bulldogs love our bed. I suppose there may be some body impressions but they're not a problem that anyone has ever raised. Prior to this mattress I had shelled out over $3,000 for a Sterns & Foster and within the first year the body impressions were incredibly deep and the sides were sagging. One thing we do is make certain to turn the mattress, maybe every two months or so. Our Saatva has held up beautifully we never hesitate to recommend them. Hope this Helps! Peter Suslock

If you turn the mattress, then do you give up sleeping on the Euro pillow top? Is there a pillow top on both sides?

Just to clarify, this mattress, can be "turned" (ie, rotated), but is not intended to be flipped. The bottom is not a sleeping surface.

this is hilarious...and helpful, as I, too, am an obsessive researcher to the point of never purchasing the product. I am about to purchase a Stearns & Foster (having slept on one at the Cornell (my alma mater) Statler Inn...and loving it....I even put an order in at a major store, but now that i'm reading tons of negative reviews about the "sagging" probabilities ... and have read about the problems consumers have in the claims /warranties department.
