Believe the reviews - The,store model felt awesome, the new mattress delivered to our home is way too hard! Initially easy to fall asleep but will wake up often/ constantly changing position to remedy body aches. My back is destroyed! Have had the Bliss Nature for 5 months now - gave a fair try, now faced with a return and a loss of $1500 in an exchange for a top rated traditional mattress. local store has now dropped line. I respect your review but have to take it with a grain of salt. Why would you not have considered a latex topper? A quality 2 inch Talalay topper with a nice cover can be found for under $300 and likely would have solved your problem (and saved you over $1000). The Nature is often used (and shown) with a topper, although it's not necessary to spend around $500 on one of the Bliss toppers.
I,have found a solution - please read: I did try 2 different added "toppers" to the Bliss mattress. First was a top of the line Sterns and Foster extra thick mattress pad ($150), , second was a 3 inch feather pillow top ($250). After both did not remedy the hardness I returned to the Bliss retailer to purchase the Bliss topper - that when I was told the retailer had dropped Bliss. My realization was "why does a $3500 mattress need more - it should be perfect from day one!" Have now ordered a Sleep Number 10, full refund minus a small shipping charge within 100 days!! Have two close friends that love their Sleep Number. Impressed by Sleep Number's confidence and refund policy. Other mattress companies should step up and follow the same practice.
I understand where you're coming from and agree that although latex is a high quality material, shopping for a mattress where latex is used in all or the majority of the construction can be very tricky. That said, the Bliss mattresses are made to go with or without a topper and their toppers can easily be found online... however, my intent isn't to blindly defend them (or latex)... I just think you may have sold yourself (and latex) a little short by not trying a latex topper. The toppers you mentioned are not likely to add the support/pressure relief you require or that latex can provide, so it's not surprising they didn't remedy the situation. It's unfortunate that money was spent on those toppers, and then an entirely new mattress. I do hope the Sleep Number works out and that they honor the return policy (without hassle) if not. You should be aware that Sleep Number (Select Comfort) has had more than their fair of issues/complaints (like all of the larger, more "mainstream" mattress companies) but there are plenty of people that seem to be happy with them as well. If it doesn't work out, I might suggest the new "flex" mattresses from Tempur-Pedic... it's a hybrid construction with coils in one of the support layers so it's not as "dead" feeling as their traditional memory foam mattresses. Good luck!
Wow! This is hard to believe and goes to show me that we're all different and have different needs. I'm glad you found a bed that is working for you, because in the U.S. mattress shopping seems to be geared against us customers. I have a good friend who has a sleep # bed who LOVES it and everything about it. I have a Pure Latex Bed and it's HEAVEN for me w/numerous back problems. It's the only bed I can sleep on and have NO PAIN in the morning. Good luck to you sir!!
