Don't waste $1500.00

We purchased this mattress from RTG and the salesales staff were helpful and pleasant. She also highly recommend this product and it was all american made. We've never spent this much on a mattress but we thought it was worth it.  We noticed right away that it was more firm than the one at the store and after the first few nights my wife called the the salesperson and she said it would soften up after a week or two and there was no returning it. I like firm and I found it very comfortable but after a few weeks the mattress never softened up, but my wife  said she felt like she was sleeping on a piece of plywood.   I'm 6' 160lbs, my wife 5 9' 120lbs and this mattres had be come more uncorfortable than our previous 9 years old King Koil. She started complaining of her back aching every morning and the longer we had it then my back started to ache. The pain would wake meup in the middle of the night when I was trying to turn over. My wife went and bought a $200 memory foam top from Bed Bath n Beyond but that only helped a little. Thus after 7 months we could no longer stand the suffering of this horrible piece of garbage and purchased a new mattress from a different store. Buyer be warned... For those reviews that say they find this mattress comfortable it's probably only because they have owned it for less than 3 or 4 months. I very seldom write reviews much less a negative one but I don't have the money to waste and so am hoping to save someone else the same mistake and $1500.  My wife and I feel like buying a mattress is a scam, that the floor models are much better made to sell, and the ones you get delivered have less support and padding.  They never feel as good as the one in the store.

March 2012 I brought a mattress and box spring. After 5 weeks of use, there is a 1" sag in the mattress and the company will not do anything about it unless it is 1-1/2". How ridiculous! Sleepy's recommended Carolina brand, we paid $1700.00, so what is it going to look like in 2 years? My adult son and my husband and I were going to go mattress shopping, I would not buy a Carolina brand, nor would I go to sleepy's.

Hi Anonymous! Whether purchasing a mattress from Carolina Mattress Guild, or any of the large "S" brands, you should know, and have been told, that body impressions are a normal part of the mattress break in period. You should have also been told what the warranty does, and doesn't cover in terms of how the material is warranted to retain it's shape over time. Sleepy's has literally sold thousands of the Radiant line of mattresses in the last few months, and the feedback from those customers has been on par with nothing we've ever rolled out. However, errors in manufacturing can, and do occur, and this is where the warranty you purchased comes in. Contact the store that you purchased the mattress. They should arrange a visit to your home to measure the mattress with a standardized tool. If the body impression exceeds the warranted value before that time period (5 years, 10 years) the mattress should be replaced. You can also email me the mattress serial number (mlydick@carolinamattressguild.com) so that I can verify the components in your mattress, and check to see if there are any known issues with the beds built around the time yours was made. If you're not satisfied with the service you're receiving with Sleepys, you can also contact me directly and we can coordinate with our corporate contacts to make sure your issue gets a closer look. We're sorry you haven't had a postive experience, and are committed to make sure that you are happy wiht your purchase. Our mattresses are made by, and for Americans - and we're committed to that quality.

The workers literally have no idea what a showroom order is, or whether a bed is headed towards someone's home. It is rare that an older showroom model softens up over time, especially if thousands of people have laid on it over the period of a year or more. We would be willing to send a representative to the Rooms to Go store that you purchased your mattress at, and have them test the softness of the bed vs. a standard bed (they would know if the bed was too soft immediately). If they find that's the case, we would work with RTG to ship you a new mattress right away and rectify the problem. Please contact me at mlydick@carolinamattressguild.com, or at 336 476 1333x240 so that I can get your information and proceed accordingly. We're committed to your satisfaction, and your comfort experience. As you can imagine comfort and feel are a personal measurement though, but we should be able to quickly determine if the floor sample has gone "soft" and get you taken care of. I look forward to hearing back from you - Michael

I am very impressed with the response from the manufacturer. Seems like they are willing to go the extra mile.
