Not Soft and Not Plush

We were excited when our new Saatva Plush Soft Mattress arrived. I had read hundreds of reviews and learned that many people who had initially ordered the Luxury Firm had either exchanged it for the Plush Soft or wished they had started with the latter. Knowing that my husband and I are both side sleepers and would like some extra cushion in hip/shoulder pressure points, we went with the Plush Soft. After the first night, it was obvious that this mattress was neither plush nor soft. We had a very restless sleep and had difficulty finding positions that were comfortable at all. Also, the mattress is VERY springie. Every time my husband rolled over, got up or even coughed, I could feel the bounce in the mattress. As a light sleeper, this was extremely disruptive. When I called customer service after about the issues we were having (after two more sleepless nights), they very quickly offered to send me a mattress topper at no cost. This made me think the softness or lack thereof is a common issue. It was going to take another week or so to get that to us. After about 4 more sleepless nights, we couldn’t wait any longer and decided to return the mattress altogether. A topper was not going to fix of all its flaws. This time, we went into a local brick and mortar store, actually felt the comfort of the mattress options in person and bought one that we are SO happy with. From here on, we’ll never buy a mattress online. Lesson learned.

Wanted To Love It

I liked the idea of a less toxic mattress with quality materials in an “old school” format. Even though this mattress is considered plush it never felt truly plush. The top layer isn’t generous enough to give that luxury feel and the spring layer was noticeable under the Euro top layer. There aren’t enough layers at the top of the mattress. I would have gladly paid more for this particular brand if they had a lumbar supporting yet extra plush top layer model.

Good for wife, bad for me

My wife wanted a soft mattress that felt like a cloud. At first she thought even this mattress was too hard, but after a few weeks she has come to like it. She also discovered that her tingly feeling was not related to the mattress but rather a separate issue with her hand that has been addressed. For myself, I'm about 160lbs and have recently been having back pain, both upper and lower. It got worse with this mattress, especially lower back pain. It seems I sink in way too far. My wife says we can't sleep too close together because it feels like she'll fall into my 'hole.' My lower back pain is unfortunately worse than before, and I believe it is because this mattress is not supportive enough for me. The middle of the bed feels better, where the saatva branded foundation has more support (because it's a king mattress so the foundation is split in the middle). Perhaps this mattress on a platform or hard surface would be better (their foundation is slat-based). One other issue is my chest, which has never been in pain before but now I wake up with a bruised chest feeling. Considering how soft the mattress is at the waist, it was surprising to me that it would cause this issue at the top of my torso. My wife and I really wanted to love this mattress but I think we will have to return it and try for something with more support .

Not a true pillow top. Well made but really uncomfortable

We were very disappointed in our Saatva queen size mattress. We are both side and back sleepers. We have tried two of them, and still are very unhappy and are now going to change to a different brand. If you look around online, you'll see a lot of people are unhappy with the hardness of this mattress. In our case, based on their advice on the phone, we first tried the Luxury Firm (middle firmness) and then exchanged it for a Plush Soft (softest of the 3 firmnesses) mattress. We still find even the soft one really hard. I wake up with hip aches and my husband has been having problems sleeping almost every night! We just don't find these beds comfortable. On the positive side, it seems to be decent quality and sleeps cool. Don't expect a real pillow top from this company. What they call the "pillow" is built in and the mattress sleeps like any other regular (non-pillow-top) mattress. My husband and I have been uncomfortable every day for more than 2 months with these two mattresses and we've had enough. We are now returning the Plush Soft one and exchanging it for a Serta gel pillow top that we've tried before and found comfortable. (The pricing is similar, btw.) Saatva did not reimburse either of the two shipping costs we incurred, but are reimbursing us for the mattress. As for customer service, we found it a mixed bag. The woman who exchanged the first mattress for the second was snarky and had an attitude. The man who processed our final return of the second mattress was lovely. He is allowing us to keep our box springs if we choose to do so.

Pleasantly Surprised

Our memory foam mattress was making me physically sick. I figured we didn't have anything to lose with trying this mattress because of the many great reviews on the Saatva. I was drawn in by how the Saatva mattress is constructed with eco-friendly materials. Customer service was indeed awesome. Once it was delivered, I wanted to like it and at the same time I wanted to not like it because it was a lot firmer than what I was use to. But from the get go, both me and my spouse have slept really well on it. My back pain has honestly been better. My only regret is not getting the smaller box spring.

Very comfortable

Saatva Plush soft is great if you are a side sleeper. it has just the right amount of softness but also good support so my hip, shoulder and neck feel comfortable all night. No chemical smell that some new beds have. Excellent value for a very reasonable price.Highly recommended

Thank you Saatva!

I had a horrible experience last December with a mattress from a retail mattress chain, ( so much off gassing, chemicals, triggered asthma and inflammation issues) so, thank goodness after that I found Saatva.com! There were a few issues with an exchange,but, all were taken care of in an amazing and helpful manner. Customer service beyond my expectations! ( Thank you Alex) ...It has been about a month since I have my soft/ plush mattress ...I love my new bed- comfy, great quality and non toxic! This is an amazing product and company! Thank you Saatva!

"Gayle Sleeps Great!"

Never have I experienced Customer Service as outstanding as that of Saatva! I first purchased the luxury firm mattress and I found that it was too firm for me so I contacted the company and I was given clear directions as to the procedure to exchange for the soft mattress for a nominal courtesy fee plus delivery. They were very courteous and thorough making sure that all "t's" were crossed and all "i's" were dotted. There was no delay in picking up the firmer mattress and delivering the softer mattress as I requested; however, a further indication of their professionalism was again displayed when just prior to delivery, they called me to go over the measurements I had requested for the box spring and mattress. They inquired as to how tall I was, due to the fact that I had ordered the highest mattress & box spring combo - when I told them I was only 5'2" tall, they said that when they saw the combination I chose, they knew it would be an uncomfortable height for me. The fact that they took the time to call and verify whether I was a very tall person prior to delivery, their friendly thoroughness saved us all from having to go through unnecessary delivery and return madness. You couldn't ask for a better product sold by a company with a better staff than Saatva!!!

Excellence

I really had an superb experience with the Saatva company from the time I went on line, a very convenient way of shopping mattress ,in 24 hours had a call from Ed Brians was honored to be able to speak to the CEO a quick and productive conversation.Then when the mattress delivered they were on time as what scheduled.So as we got the mattress I could smell a crisp ,clean,luxury and as laid on bed I felt how comfortable and supportive on my back and my joints being having an RA.My husband too was very satisfied ,He loved it being too Plush Soft ,excellent support throughout .Again to Ed Brians and Staff you did it , delivered an excellence of service . We will recommend the Saatva Mattress to whoever very particular how it was made with high quality materials and Love .

Great Mattress

Since getting my Saatva Plush Soft Mattress, my wife and I are sleeping more comfortable and relaxed getting a good nights sleep, refreshed and ready for the next day. Initial concerns involving delivery were addressed and given top priority by Ed Brians (one of the owners) who personally called me to discuss and ensure all my needs were addressed and that I was completely satisfied. (I was very impressed that this man cared so much about his company and the product that he personally called me) I have already told others about my Saatva Mattress and recommend it to anyone. Great Company and Great Mattress!
