I had never bought a new mattress before; I'd always had them secondhand. So I had no idea what kind of firmness I'd need and picked Medium. I chose this brand because the warranty goes up to 350lb unlike other brands. I have gotten as big as 345. After a year the mattress itself is still in great shape.
Unfortunately I still wake up daily with crippling back pain. Exercise helps, and my obesity is not the mattress company's fault, but I can tell you one thing: at 6'2, 345, Medium is NOT the right choice.

After doing hours and HOURS of research on mattresses, the Alexander Hybrid felt like a solid choice. I went with a Medium because I have typically done well with a middle stiffness mattress. But sleeping on my back has proven to be a bit unsustainable. I'm a guy with a butt, not a big butt, but I have a butt (5'10" 180, fairly lean). The medium mattress doesn't let my butt sink in enough and the mattress does not come up to support my lower back. I specifically was mattress shopping because of my lower back and my chiropractor said sleeping on my back will be better for my neck alignment issues. But alas, it's not comfy enough to stay put on my back all night. I always wake up on my side or stomach.
Other than that issue, the mattress is very nice and I really appreciate the quality and design.

I want to love this bed wholeheartedly, but I'm not quite there. 2 people over 200lbs and there are ruts where we sleep. We turn the mattress every direction and rotate it, but it's worn in where we lay regardless. We've only had the mattress a year and a half and I know my husband wants to look for a new one.

When we first got the bed, we were a little nervous because our backs were very sore. But the ladies at the store told us we might feel some discomfort for the first week or two while our bodies adjusted to the mattress. They were right. We're both sleeping so much better than we did with our previous mattress. It provides really good support and makes it easy to fall asleep.

"Nest-ie Is My New Best-ie" Nest Alexander Hybrid Mattress
I never ever “dreamed” I would buy a mattress-in-a-box. And now, “Nest-ie is my new Best-ie”!
Thirty something years ago when I bought my first, and only, mattress, I never researched, much less tested anything. And never ever had a moments problem with it. This time, I researched and tested so many different mattresses I got mattress paralysis!

I truly love all things Nest - their impeccable vision, philosophy, and top of the line beautiful sleep products. Their cooling mattress protector didn’t work for me and they immediately swapped it for the Sleep & Beyond wool protector which has really made a difference.

I bought this bed from the internet - I expected it to stink. Instead I ended up with one of my favorite purchases of all time. You know when you buy something and it checks all the boxes. Amazing price. Works as I had only dreamed. Looks great. And it still works as good as the day I bought it. I call it the transcendent purchase. They only come along once every so often and they really make me smile when I think of them.

We tried 3 other mattresses before this one and ended up returning them before the trial period was up - they were certainly not worth the money or the hype.
This is the forth and the one we kept - both my wife and I get a good comfortable rest on the Nest. Would recommend it highly.

Initial hour on the mattress is fantastic, however, over course of the night, it does trap heat and feel warm.
The other issue is back support is less as the foam sinks so I inevitably end up switching to my side.
Wish there was better back support without being too stiff and better temperature control.
It is a good mattress, however, it's not been the best mattress I've slept on.

I like the hybrid mattress. The Sleep Number was great until it died. Then you suddenly have no bed. I hate memory foam - too hard - way too hot. This mattress sleeps reasonably cool. Has give and support. I have slept on foam that I felt bruised from. Too soft is just as bad. This one is the best of both a spring and a foam. I liked it enough I bought a second one.
