I purchased the Zedbed because my husband liked memory foam. We had had a MF topper on our bed before and we both liked it. I began to learn about off gassing and that was a concern for us. The store we purchased the bed from told us repeatedly there would be no smell, or off gassing. BTW, it is only offgassing if it is a competitor. They also told us it was Certi-pur certified. Well, I had the windows open for 3 weeks and it still smelled. After sleeping on the bed for a week, I developed severe headches in the middle of the night and had asthma attacks which are very rare for me over the last several years. I then tried sleeping in my son's bed for a few nights and was fine. Repeated experience and same thing. I found out that the SOME of the mattress is certi pur certified and the top layer is not. I bought the bed because I was told it wouldn't smell and it was certified. Both were not true. It is memory foam and this one came with a strong odor that caused headaches etc for me. My husband could smell it but it didn't affect him at all. To Zedbed credit, they do address the smell under the FAQ as the first question, and state it will go away after 4 weeks. The brochure also states the smell does not qualify for a warranty issue. They do not state the mattress is certified but the website does imply it. I did get a brocure after the fact that showed only the bottom layers were certified. So, the Zedbed, comfort wise, is not a bad bed at all. It seems to be fantastic for sleeping. But if you are senstive to smells or memory foam in general, this may not be a good fit. Also, I would not pay the extra money to get a "natural bed" because it is a basic well designed memory foam and not much natural about it. We sold it and got another bed (OMF) for a fraction of the cost (with no fire retardent chemicals etc..) and are very happy.

Dear Madam, First of all, thank you for purchasing a Zedbed product. We are sorry that your experience was negative. As you have mentioned, only the base foam of our mattresses is certified CertiPur, as mentioned on on POP material at the retailers. The smell that you detected was not off gassing but rather a new material smell, like you would have in a new car or couch. Like you said, our memory foam products may simply not be right for you. Thank you for trying our bed, and here's hoping you now sleep better.
Thank you for the post, I think the most important point to make here is your husband wanted memory foam you wanted organic. A second point to make is that after receiving your mattress you really liked it and actually ordered a second one for your daughter. It was only after that that the smell issues developed(a couple of weeks later). We actually took the one for your daughter back in an exchange you were very happy with and we were in process of doing the same on the other when it was drawn on all over with a red magic marker. We sincerely do wish you well but believe me you were treated honestly in a very fair manor, in fact way beyond the call of duty to attempt to help you out. We wish you nothing but the best and OMF does make a great product (but it does have foam in it as most do so that is probably not what you were "having issues" with).
I am curious as to what the OMF stands for.
