Sleeping on a board with some padding

I owed a simmons laurel before this finley. When I tried it in the store it felt nice. I was told this was fairly close to the laurel. I know you have to adjust to a new mattress and break it in but this thing is hard. My 2 year old and I have been tossing and turning on this mattress and it's terrible. I am not sure if I got a defective mattress or what but I hate this thing. You can feel where all the buttons are in the mattress and the "pillowtop" is very stiff. I am really hoping I can get an exchange or refund. :(
