So it turns out my comfy new Serta mattress was only comfortable for two years, and has gradually been getting less and less comfortable. No problem, I paid big bucks for the 10-year warranty, right? Wrong. The warranty "inspection" doesn't test for the things that make a mattress servicable; ie, it doesn't test for comfort. The "inspection" seems like a sham to abet their denial of any warranty claim. My advice: Find a different mattress company.

All mattress companies test for their warranty the same way. Not just Serta. As for comfort, there is no way to test for it. Comfort is subjective. What you find uncomfortable many others may find to be very comfortable. Mattress companies would go out of business very quickly if they replaced a bed everytime someone said it was uncomfortable. Also people age or have minor injuries that can have effect on how they feel their mattress. And lastly, did you really think it would stay feeling the same as it did when it was new? What other products have you purchased that stayed the same as new as they aged? Does a car drive as nice as when it was new after a few years? Do your sofa cushions stay the same as they age? After spending 8 hour a night on a mattress you somehow expect it's going to stay perfect for 9 years 364 days, then completely deteriorate the last day? Be realistic
