The Beloit Mattress Topper is marketed as a College Dorm must-have. That said, with less than 3 years of use, the mattress topper did not hold up to its name. When the Beloit mattress topper arrived, it was absolutely gorgeous: American made, quality stitching, attention to detail. I felt quite content with my purchase. Unfortunately, the mattress topper does not appear to be standing up to the Beloit promise. Still under warranty, the Beloit representative would not honor a refund or replacement, even though the product has been well taken care of. After 2 years of use, mold specks were noted on the top portion of the mattress topper. I contacted customer service. I was told that the mold was because of moisture trapped between the other precautionary items ( i.e. bed bug/ allergen encasement, a cotton mattress pad, sheets), and was given a bleach recipe to treat the mold specks. The Beloit website itself suggests using other bedding to protect the topper. It’s common sense to encase a college mattress. Meanwhile, storing the topper between school sessions, the topper began to change color. The underside is now a 75% pink/orange color. When customer service was contacted about the unsightliness of their well cared for product, I was told it’s a natural process. Several emails and photos were exchanged, and customer service is not honoring their warranty. In my opinion, oxidation of foam may very well be a natural condition, but the pink/ orange color is leaching through their product. Am I to worry that the color will leach through onto a new expensive apartment mattress and pricey bedding as well? I am even questioning what percentage of soy is actually used to manufacture the foam. Poly foams turn orange. The topper is turning pink and orange. I have other foam encased products in my home that have proved the test of time, and strange colors aren’t leaching through the upholstery or the cotton cushion linings. This is a Quality Control and stodgy Customer Service issue.

Addendum: Turns out the Customer Service Rep is also the current president of Beloit Mattress. This person apparently had all day to deflect my complaints. Several days, in fact, looking back to when I first contacted the company about Quality Control and the Beloit Mattress illusive imaginary warranty. Save your valued time and your hard earned money. There are many competitors out there.
