We bought this as an impulse buy as we had remodeled our home and wanted to put our traditional king size bed in the guest room.
We bought a king size bed and it was fantastic because we could customize our settings, etc., which was a huge plus.
Additionally, the first few years it was just wonderfully comfortable. Then, I started to develop back and hip pain that continued to increase but the bed still provided a good night's rest.
By the time the doctors at the Mayo Clinic discovered a childhood birth defect began growing again in my lates 40s, my Sleep Number bed became the only place I wasn't in constant pain.
I now have a pain management doctor and am on full disability and often have days where I only move with great difficulty or sometimes even have to stay in bed most of the day, my Sleep Number Bed is still my most comfortable place to sleep.
I've replaced the pillow topper in 2013 and need to do it again soon. Replacement parts/features are expensive on disability and they have no discount programs to help with costs whatsoever but one friend's doctor wrote her a prescription for her bed and her health insurance paid for it.
